    Party optimization

It seems to me that an all ranged party could work well if they are all highly mobile and focus on powers that push/slide/slow enemies. On the other hand, small rooms would be difficult.

    Party optimization

Elder-Basilisk, it seems like you're mostly saying that party A is inferior because you find the individual classes to be inferior. What I'd be interested in is whether any of those classes have any synergy with any other classes. What *does* an ensnaring swordmage work well with?

    Party optimization

This is a personal favorite of mine. You can expand on the concept by including other characters which have teleport other abilities. (Fey tactics feat, or several warlock powers.) It's gimmicky, but seems fun. Specifically, there's some fun to be had with two Assault Swordmage|Warlock...

10 Questions for the Quarterstaff Implement contreversy

Just a bit of logical game thinking here... Greatswords, Mauls, and Greataxes are two-handed because they do more damage with melee powers than their one-handed equivalents. Does an implement power do more damage with a staff than it does with an orb, rod, holy symbol, etc? There is no...

10 Questions for the Quarterstaff Implement contreversy

I see no problem with that with the following caveat. If you get your +3 ac bonus, you can't use a weapon power until your next turn. (Including the MBA the aegis of assault would grant). Edit: Called away midresponse. Larrin said it better anyways.

Why do dragons do so little damage?

    1. There are guidelines in the DMG for damage that different monster types should do at a given level. The damage output of a monster is part of what contributes to its level. 2. No one is assuming this. What we are assuming is that a solo takes the place of 5 standard monsters of equivalent...

Why do dragons do so little damage?

Actually if you look at the guidelines in the DMG for monster creation, lurkers and brutes are supposed to have equivalent damage. "For attacks that have low accuracy (including brute attacks) and the high-damage attacks of lurker monsters, use the high normal damage column." (DMG p.184)...

    Bardic Longbow Implement?

You're an elf. Take AIP to use a pact bow.

    Help me grock the warlock

It's grok, not grock... from Robert Heinlein's "Stranger in a Strange Land", I think /derail.

    Invisible Paladin

It seems to me like RAW, the creature takes damage if it tries to make any attack. (unless of course, it can negate invisibility). RAI, the creature takes no damage as long as it *tries* to attack the paladin.

    Explain INT and Reflex, Please

Wrong. IQ doesn't work like that. The IQ score is a statistical measure. 100 is average - 50th percentile. I don't remember the exact numbers, but 140 is something like 98th percentile, and 160 is something like 99.9th percentile. So... someone with 25 IQ is probably smarter than something like...

    Can you wield two implements?

I think weight is a non-issue. You don't have to swing an implement around like a weapon to use it.

Best Build for a Warlord Multiclassed into Wizard?

Or warforged for orb-in-chest. I think I saw that somewhere.

    Power to the players!

Agreed (mostly). You ought to save the points for a situation in which the narrative changes provide a tangible benefit to the players, i.e. they are losing a difficult fight, and all of a sudden an unexpected ally shows up. Make these points a reward for players making narrative additions which...

    Berbalang Nonsense

Thanks... I forgot to take into account "current" hp. I am pretty certain by 4 duplicates they meant one original + 3 duplicates.

    Berbalang Nonsense

When the berbalang manifests a duplicate, it loses 1/4 of its current hitpoints, and the duplicate appears with that amount. The berbalang can't use this ability while bloodied. The berbalang can have no more than 4 duplicates. Under the tactics... it says it might spawn a third or 4th...

    Can you wield two implements?

Let's say you're a wizard with a high wisdom. You wanted to use the staff of resounding thunder to mix things up a bit with your thunderwave... But you've also got a high wisdom, so you'd rather use orb mastery. Can you wield an orb at the same time as your staff to gain the orb mastery...

    Don't call it a (D&D) generator, but...

I'm pretty sure you'd have to use a macro that activates on changing those values, and clears the relevant cells. Probably more trouble than it's worth. I figured you already had something similar implemented because of the color changes... but that's because I didn't know about conditional...

    Don't call it a (D&D) generator, but...

I really like this. Suggestions so far... Human bonus attribute should be removed when switching to a different race. Skill training selections and feat selections should be reset when switching to a different race/class. Reflex defense is improperly calculated. Should be referencing cells N6...

    Adventurers making money with profession

Blanket statement: Anyone who says it can't be done is being uncreative. Look, it's not that hard! The OP didn't say the character necessarily is going to be making the weapons even. Just a merchant. Think about what a merchant in the PoL setting would have to do to be able to run a...
