Castles & Crusades...not sure about it

The problem with that approach (which I agree is the default suggested by the book) is that the addition of any new class immediately reduces the skills of existing characters -- i.e. characters will "lose" skills as new class abilities are created....

Babylon 5 on DVD [NO SPOILERS for Season 5, please]

Well, I'm glad to hear the season 3 set is so much better but I'm afraid I have to disagree with you about season 1. Perhaps the tapes you watched were poor quality? Before typing this I just compared 4 or 5 episodes and, even with the superior image quality of DVD, the CG just looks better on...

Babylon 5 on DVD [NO SPOILERS for Season 5, please]

CG problems on the DVD The CG was MUCH better in the original show (if you can find someone who recorded it from TV, watch it and compare). The transfer to the DVD is the problem. Althougth the series was filmed in widescreen format, it was broadcast full-frame (4:3) -- so all the CG was done...

What do you not like about M&M?

While not exactly what you're looking for, this may be a step in that direction.... The Compiled Kenson Q&A file

    Questions about M&M?

While I see some similarities with HER0, it seems to me that M&M was more heavily influenced by DC Heroes, particularly in the way powers are constructed.

    Wildshape Elemental - Recent article

I'm actually not trying to be contrary. I'd just go a step further and say to completely ignore the "revised" rules for wild shape, polymorph, alter self, etc. Use your own judgement, as that of WOTC seems to be seriously impaired regarding this subject.

    Wildshape Elemental - Recent article

Unfortunately common sense has absolutely nothing to do with the new polymorph (& wild shape) rules. If anything, the rules seem to run contrary to "common sense." Moreover, the polymorph article explicitly lists "Elementals do not eat, sleep, or breathe" as a natural ability gained gained...

Dwarf druid shapechanging - vision issue.

A well-spoken justification for perhaps the stupidest spell ruling yet in D&D 3.x. Nonetheless, I remain unconvinced. I get armor and weapon proficiencies from changing form, but not vision? A remarkably un-intuitive approach to form-changing spells...

    another hitpoint variant, kinda.....

I tried something similar in a couple of stand-alone games I ran for my players. I basically used the WP/VP system from Star Wars/Spycraft, but instead of having crits do damage to WPs, I said the following: Attacks that beat "normal" AC do damage to VPs (Hit Points) Attacks that beat AC+ BAB...

    An "appropriate" system for LOTR?

Decipher's game is an excellent adaptation -- perhaps the best game "representation" of a series of books/films that I've seen. Here are some sample information from the book: http://www.decipher.com/lordoftherings/rpg/products/corebook/index.html And some useful forums...

Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong Trip

When I lived in HK I didn't get much of a chance to game, so I don't really know any players in the area. I did find 2 Games Workshop stores, however. If you're bored, you might find some rpgers there. One is in Wanchai (HK island) on the 3rd level of 183 Hopewell Centre, Queen's Road East. The...

What does orc blood do for halforcs?

Half-Orcs would almost make an adequate race if it weren't for Dwarves. Dwarves are easily the best (standard) race for fighter-types; Half-Orcs don't even come close....

    Interesting Peter Jackson interview

Based on my anecdotal experience, I'd say that's accurate. Neither my wife, my mother, my grandmother, my wife's friends, nor my neighbors have read the books. For that matter, none of them are sci-fi/fantasy fans. But invariably they have all loved the extended versions, preferring them to...

    Disappointed with AU

    The new Battlestar

What's fascinating to me is that the Wired News review is so positive, and yet totally convinces me that I would not like this show. I'm afraid special effects and oversexed characters simply aren't enough to get me to watch ... I've got many better shows to "waste" my time on.

AU- Possible to make an archer?

Sort of like the Ranger.... Seriously, one of the best archers I've found so far is a Hawk Totem Warrior/Unfettered mutli-class. I left Totem Warrior after 2nd level, thus avoiding the animal companion and other "baggage" of the class...

    Farscape rumors poping up again

I submit that, with the exception of some of their films, they DON'T know "what the fans of the genre like." That's why Sci-Fi Channel's ratings remain mediocre and the management is unhappy with their demographics.

    Getting Rid of Level Drain

Actually that's a pretty good explanation for negative levels. It doesn't work very well for the permanent "level drain" aspect. [I see above that you don't use that, however.]
