    Random Kingdom Events?

I'm looking for tables of random events that might happen to a kingdom ruled by my PC's. I dimly recall seeing something like what I want in the 1st Edition Oriental Adventures book. Is there any other source for this type of thing y'all could suggest? Online resources in particular would...

DDI User Name: Does it have to be an email address?

Bummer. But thanks for the info, Mudbunny.

DDI User Name: Does it have to be an email address?

Every time I log in to the DDI, I have give it my email address as my user name. Is there anyway to change that? I'd rather have a short handle as a user name that didn't include an @ and an _ (both of which are a hassle to type on my I-Pad).

April and Beyond: Actually full of things most people will like!

I feel a little thick. Is the idea that the core of the Wandering Tower is a separate hunk of flesh and whatnot that exists inside the structure? You go in, and everything looks normal until a big blob bursts out of the floor and ganks you? I love the concept, but I'm a little fuzzy on the...

    D&D 4E Vancian Magic 4e

I'd like to see more, better, cheaper rituals. Otherwise, I'm fine with the AEDU 4E Wizard.

What are the greatest published adventures you've run?

Tallow's Deep (Dungeon #18) Killer goblins in a trap filled hell-hole. A great example of using the third dimension to create traps/tricks in a dungeon environment. I-6 I've never seen better. A great map, consistent atmosphere, a personable villain, a worth goal and a great map.

    Dungeons sizes

In the face-to-face game I ran, our game table had something like an 8 by 4 foot gridded space on it. The owner of the table printed out huge sheets of one inch squared paper and covered them with plexiglass. I literally set up an entire goblin village on that table one time. I mostly play...

Rule of Three finally addresses an important epic tier question!

I gotta disagree. I'd place the Iliad somewhere in the middle of the Paragon tier. It's a save/destroy the kingdom story, not a save/destroy the world story. The characters are supremely skilled mortal warriors who engage in face to face duels with each other in between wiping out swarms of...

Rule of Three finally addresses an important epic tier question!

To enlarge on Defcon's point that "epic PC's are on epic journeys to fulfill their destinies... destinies that will send them into the annals of history." Part of what this means is that epic adventures need to be more closely tailored to the PC's than lower-tiered adventures. Imagine a...

Tell me a little about B-4

How are the maps in I1? Do they show an entire city? Do they show above ground areas or just underground dungeons?

Tell me a little about B-4

I want to put a big, decadent ruined city into my game. I want something that feels huge, creepy and old, with shades of Howard's Red Nails or Xuthal of the Dusk. I read through B-4 The Lost City about 20 years ago, and I don't remember much of it all. How well would it work for my purposes...

    Dungeons sizes

I tend toward smaller dungeons, usually places with 5 - 20 separate rooms and no more than 2 to 3 levels. This is less because I'm concerned with realism, and more because I tend to get bored running larger dungeons. This isn't hard rule. I spent quite a lot of time last fall running my...

    Vecna: Themes or Templates?

Thanks for the reference to Open Grave! There's at least one template in there that I can make work.

Going to my first ever convention!

Find a place that serves decent food and eat there. Three or four days of crappy food will kill you. If you drink alcohol, drink in moderation. Get some sleep.

LOST the game (spoilers for the TV show)

Awesome idea! Re: Polar Bears, Boars and the Smokey, I'd introduce them in roughly the same order the show did. Bringing in Smokey right at the beginning emphasizes that this is not just a survival game. It should also force the PC's to make some hard decisions: should we hide? should we...

Would you buy a product called 'D&D 4.5'?

It depends entirely on the content of the product. That said, I would not inclined to buy any new edition of D&D right now. I'm happy with the 4E game I've got. As far as I can tell, I'll continue to enjoy 4E for the next several years. I also think it would be a monumental blunder for WotC...

    DDI Monster Builder

Yes and No. There are features that a WotC VTT could offer that I'm not getting with d20 Pro, in particular the integrated MB and CB. One of the hassles of using a VTT is data entry, especially inputting monster stats. This process is very fast with d20 Pro -- I can create a monster in less...

    DDI Monster Builder

I see your point. Anyway, according to Zaran, nobody can use it now. I play almost exclusively online using d20 Pro. Most of my players got into the WotC VTT beta when it started, I got in about a month later. I asked my friends what they thought of it, and they said "meh". Nobody had any...

    DDI Monster Builder

As far as I know, yes. It's in a limited access beta. But also as far as I know, the beta VTT works, which is all I mean by usable. I pulled up the online "monster builder" at home on my lunch break, and I was unimpressed. It isn't a builder, and they ought to be ashamed of it.

    DDI Monster Builder

Is that true? I was under the impression that the VTT was usable, just still in beta.
