    D&D 5E (2014) D&D Next Blog - A Close Call with Negative Hit Points

Agreed. I'd do away with negative hit points and just have death saves.

Cendriane - need a good map

I'd start by looking for maps of Myth Drannor. You might not get anything at the right scale, but there should be some inspirational value to them.

Weapon Damage Types - DDN Blog

I voted the same way for the same reason. Agreed. 3.0 only used S/P/B resistance for a handful of monsters. Unless you were a low level party fighting nothing but skeletons, it wasn't worth worrying about.

D&D 4E A thought on WotC's imperative to continue to digitally support 4e.

I run a 4E game using a 3rd party VTT (d20 Pro). I game with my browser open to the Compendium. It's early, but based on what I've heard so far, I'm fairly meh about 5E. I think it would be a good move on WotC's part to keep the 4E DDI stuff archived and available to subscribers, I have no...

After DDXP, how are you feeling about D&En?

I'm operating under the assumption that these early tidbits from WotC are deliberately calculated to appeal to the OSR/Pathfinder folks. My hope is that the complete game really does have something for everyone.

Six Saving Throws - One for Each Ability Score?

I'm not a math guy. How much statistical difference does it make to use opposed rolls instead of rolling against a static DC?

After DDXP, how are you feeling about D&En?

I'm pretty firmly in the "meh" column right now. Partly that's because 4E still feels fresh to me. I've got a lot of 4E left to play, and I'm not interested in changing things up right now. Maybe I'll feel differently in a year or so when the next iteration drops. But I'm leery of six...

    D&D 5E (2014) The classes of 5e (now with 90% less speculation)

Can I make a respectful suggestion? If you really feel this way, if you're really out because "warlord" is in the 5E PHB, stop griping about it and let the rest of us have our fun.

Recreating the feeling of actually being in a Labyrinth

Janx has nailed down the old skool way to do it. "The corridor goes 30' and terminates in a T intersection. At the intersection, the corridor to your right goes 40' and turns 90 degrees to the right. The corridor to your left goes on as far as you can see, but there is opening on the left...

Why Isn't Planescape the Default Setting?

It seems to me as if Spelljammer is the natural core and default setting. For one thing, Spelljammer leads to all other settings, so if you really wanted One Setting to Rule them All, Spelljammer would be it. With all these other default setting worlds, you kind of have to do some maneuvering...

How do you feel about the future of D&D after the official announcements?

Neutral to Negative. WotC's promise to make a modular system that appeals to all gamers everywhere sounds like pie in the sky to me. I'll believe it when I see it.

Things to Talk To in the Dungeon

Three broad categories: 1. Prisoners: Like your victims, they are here against their will, and they want help. 2. Traitors: "Enemy" forces in conflict with their own kind or with other factions in the dungeon. They want to use you to further their own agendas. 3. Other Adventurers: What...

WIR S1 Tomb of Horrors [SPOILERS!! SPOILERS EVERYWHERE!!]‏

Back in June, I started this thread after the comments here: http://www.enworld.org/forum/general-rpg-discussion/306672-tomb-horrors-example-many-one-kind.html got me thinking about the Tomb of Horrors As I noted then, this line of posts caught my attention: I'd heard that about the Tomb...

Have the Damage Expressions from Page 42 Been Updated?

I know the skill DC's from page 42 have been updated several times, and an updated version of them is in the Rules Compendium. Were the damage expressions also updated? If so, where can I find the updated versions?

WIR S1 Tomb of Horrors [SPOILERS!! SPOILERS EVERYWHERE!!]‏

Several folks have already broken down Acererak's riddle. I'm going to break down the Tomb. The following is the quickest, safest walkthrough for the Tomb of Horrors: First, locate the true entrance to the Tomb. Avoid the two false entrances. All three entrances are hidden behind loose...

I offered my opinion regarding the module's popularity a few weeks ago:

WIR S1 Tomb of Horrors [SPOILERS!! SPOILERS EVERYWHERE!!]‏

IMO: The scepter and crown solution is a perfect meeting of good players and good DM'ing. The players are engaged with the game and the setting, and they are ready to think laterally to solve their predicament. The DM is willing to "say yes" and allow an inventive solution to work. It's a...

WIR S1 Tomb of Horrors [SPOILERS!! SPOILERS EVERYWHERE!!]‏

Bullgrit calculates a total of 252,895 exp available in the module. If Mithril is worth only 1 gp a pound, and Foxwander's calculations are correct, the doors would be worth 288,120 exp.
