    Mage Hand cantrip

I have not seen anything to that effect, no. Not saying there isn't - but I have not seen it.

    Mage Hand cantrip

Regardless of whether or not it is possible for a person to grab an arrow in flight, the spell cannot. It requires a minor action to use and thus can be activated only during the caster's turn. As for taking an object from someone else. . . .

    D&D 4E 4e Healing - Is This Right?

If we are going to use the argument that "they are 'real' wounds because the spell is called Cure Light Wounds", it is relevant to point out that by that reasoning a 'light' wound constitutes "any injury capable of killing the vast majority of the populace", since most 'people' are 1st lvl, and...

    Worlds and Monsters & homebrewing

I would agree with those that say that W&M was chock full of fluffy goodness :) Plenty of food for thought with loads of insight into the interaction of the various planes and the roles the various monster races can play in the campaign you want to create. My favorite bits: The Feywild; The...

    D&D 4E The problem I've having with 4e.

This is the one I prefer to go with. The thing is that the characters don't know how many 'uses' they have. The character may have been trying the maneuver all day ("My Swordmaster said I should work on my Passing Attack . . . "). The character may continue to try the maneuever after they...

D&D 4E 4E Mechanics can reduce the need for combat!

Would the corrolary apply as well? Intricate rules for social encounters would provide incentive for social encounters?

    Realism! Versamilitude! Other Words!

realism (op's comment) =/= simulation (4E's Lead Designer and Associate Brand Manager comments)

If gnomes had the eladrin's powers would that make them more appealing?

RuneQuest is a skill based RPG dating back to the late 1970's - published by Chaosium originally and later Avalon Hill now Mongoose. The system is also the foundation for Stormbringer, Call of Cthulhu, HawkMoon, Elfquest. . . . Anyway, the default setting for RQ is Glorantha and uses...

Trip is an Encounter Power now

Personally, I am OK with the per time slot mechanic in general, and I am a big fan of it in this particular instance. Yes, there are several cinematic examples of multiple trip/disarm/sunder attempts. There have also been several testimonies to the effect that in actual fights, it is a rare...

Trip is an Encounter Power now

There is a disconnect between the impact of being tripped in the real world and the effect of being Tripped in D&D. What are the effects of being Tripped? What are the penalties for being Prone (which I am assuming is the at least one of the effects of being Tripped)? Are there any other...

Any New Info on Skill Encounters?

I like the system (as we understand it so far). One of my great revelations as a GM came from a system called Theatrics which was the first time I had seen this shared authorial power. It basically said that if the payers introduce something to the scene that was reasonable and appropriate, so...

If gnomes had the eladrin's powers would that make them more appealing?

Legend of Mana may have borrowed it from where ever, but RuneQuest has been calling them that since 1978 - Never heard of Paracelsus though, thanks guys!

    Tactical Boardgame?

Yes. Absolutely. Characters with mechanically interesting tactics are bad role-playing crutches. Choices? For a fighter? Bad idea - roll to hit - no choice for you! Don't you know only spellcasters get choices?!?!?!

Blasphemy! He hath invoked the dreaded RQ reference! and he forgot Lunes, to boot.

    My XP at DDXP

    1) Bloodied - I do not see this as an issue. DMs already keep track of damage, this is just a degree of damage - Is the creature half dead or not? 2) Dazed, Stunned, Slept, etc. . . can be marked on the monsters stat sheet. There were more conditions in 3.x e and we survived. 3) Marks -...

If gnomes had the eladrin's powers would that make them more appealing?

I like the fey step ability. It ties in with the fluff we have seen - the feywild is close to the material plane, fey can step through it. No problem for me. I like the continuity with the Warlock's fey-pact power, too.

Wizard Spells 10-16 Two Page Spread

Look at it this way: The Rogue could put those same skill points into UMD instead and still be able to open locks, too. She would also be able to heal, climb, become invisible. . . Well worth the 90 gp/lock

    Tactical Boardgame?

But you don't need a very involved rules system to do that (see Improvisational Theatre). You certainly don't need one as quantifying as D&D - Theatrics would work just as well, if not better if you felt you needed some kind of "game" framework. Rolling your own dice and using visual aids in...
