Yeah, and there are no threads to suggest people didn't have different interpretations.. ;) Regardless, it is completely clarified now, in the latest Primary Source.

I'll even expand on this a little by adding "or my party's part" after "on my part". In the same combat I mentioned a few posts back, another party member was paralyzed with fear within the monster's area and couldn't move at all. Since we'd seen what the monster could do to someone with tons...

    Disarm, Sunder, Grapple, Trip

It is the "Primary Source" now. From the introduction: "Years in the making, it gathers resources from a wide variety of supplements, rules errata, and rules clarifications to provide an authoritative guide for playing the D&D game. . . . When a preexisting core book or supplement differs...

    Disarm, Sunder, Grapple, Trip

Latest source rule makes it the official book of the Rules currently. The book itself also states that it incorporates offical errata.

    The new Darkvision text.

Not that it's going to stop *all* the senseless arguements on it, but I like the new wording used for Darkvision from RC. They've finally removed that craptacular line about "see only in black and white" and replaced it with "unable to distiguish color", which definitely throws out that...

    Disarm, Sunder, Grapple, Trip

Since they can be substituted for any melee attack (including multiple times during a full attack action), a monk/monster/whatever could substitute them for all their melee attacks. Same with TWF or whatever else gives more melee attacks. Basically, they seem to have made disarm, sunder...

    Wieldskill -- irreplaceable?

Not a problem if your cleric has access to Anyspell.

    Wieldskill -- irreplaceable?

Well, the "Initiate of _____" is actually an optional rule, if you read the Initiate text approximately where the feat is. If your group doesn't want to use that rule, then the Initiate spells become general cleric spells of the same spell level. If you actually look over the Initiate spells...

    Disarm, Sunder, Grapple, Trip

Well, no more ambiguity now. All are substitutable for melee attacks, can be used with a charge, can substitute for a melee attack one or more times in a full attack, and can substitute for the melee attack from an AoO.

That may be something *you* want. That's not something *I* want. Combat is already chaotic enough. PCs with lots of HP can still die without needing SoD. In our game two sessions ago, a PC with over 90 HP was brought down from full health to 3 HP in one round, the first round. By one...

    Chaotic Neutral Copper Dragon?

Wrong, wrong, wrong! Come on, Nifft... This is the first time I've seen one of your posts let me down.. ;)

I thought it was a great analogy. Of course, nobody has yet to address my thoughts about how SoD spells can really shaft a player posted a few pages back. (Here specifically.) But, hey... I guess "real players" don't mind sitting around doing nothing for a whole evening because of failing one...

Oh no, I lost my Bolt of Glory

Come on now. Everybody knows clerics only have one role.

Maybe to you. Definitely not to me, or to some others, from the look of things. I personally don't know anyone who wants to get to the game all excited about the combat that's about to start (via a cliffhanger from last session) only to have their character killed in the first round because of...

I just realized what bugs me about Warlords . . .

And there was Boromir, the "Champion of Gondor". There's a fantasy connotation to Champion as well....

    Darkvision through a telescope

For that specific example, DC 16 with a -5 to the roll for distance instead of -10. (In essence, DC 21 instead of DC 26.) As I said, it was a 'meh' explanation, especially given the fact the thread dealt with medium sized stuff (no size modifier) up to that point. Of course, now looking over...
