D&D 5E (2014) Rage of Demons more details.

Are the NPCs from this thread in Out of the Abyss? I really want to see what they do with Glabbagool, the awakened gelatinous cube.

D&D 5E (2014) Rage of Demons more details.

Out of curiosity, do you find all RPG with strong NPCs (like Star Wars, Greyhawk, LotR, Dragonlance, Star Trek, Dresden Files, L5R, etc.) have the same problem? If PCs aren't necessary when Elminster and Drizzt are around, are PCs necessary when Luke Skywalker, Gandalf, and the Enterprise are...

    D&D 5E (2014) is a campaign setting necessary?

Us too! We went from module to module based on how cool the covers were with no idea what Forgotten Realms, Dragonlance, or Greyhawk even meant.

D&D 5E (2014) Sword Coast Adventurer's Guide: Player Content Guesses

I'm not very familiar with the War Wizards--what do you think they would need that the current wizard subclasses (particularly evocation) don't have?

    D&D 5E (2014) Help! What should I play?

What does the party do? Do they have specific quests or pursuits? What is the demeanor or dynamic of the group?

    D&D 5E (2014) What is/should be the Ranger's "thing"?

I don't know who you are. I don't know what features you want. If you are looking for maneuvers, I can tell you PHB Rangers don't have superiority dice. But what Rangers do have are a very particular set of skills, skills they have acquired over a very long list of editions. Skills that...

    Doing science

I like how the properties give the player a decision point between which solution to try. But it still seems to have the downside that it could be boiled down into fewer rolls, as Umbran pointed out earlier. Maybe you could do one check for all stages that have no properties? So if I'm trying...

    Starting a new campaign

Fantastic! I read through Ashen Stars but haven't had a chance to play it yet. I really like the Kch-Thk. Let us know how it goes!

    Starting a new campaign

I suggest you run a Star Trek game like you mentioned wanting to run in that other thread. Maybe your players will surprise you and give it a try. Indeed! I love that system and setting. I only played in one one-shot but I read the books over and over again.

New D&D Survey: What Do you Want From Older Editions?

Out of curiosity, what would you want to see in a bladesinger that's missing in those other classes? Maybe a vestige pact could work--WotC has clever designers. I would be disappointed if a 5th Edition version followed the 4E version and sacrificed the bargaining aspect that the 3.5 Binder...

I think it would be extremely fun.

New D&D Survey: What Do you Want From Older Editions?

I see what you mean. I figured it couldn't hurt to try, even if it's incredibly unlikely.

New D&D Survey: What Do you Want From Older Editions?

It's a long shot but I added a request for the Tome of Magic Binder in the comments section. kalil, maybe you could do the same for the Warlord.

My favorites of his are Field of Dreams, Glory, Legends of the Fall, and Braveheart.

    [kickstarter] Wizard's Academy

I randomly stumbled across their Kickstarter with hours to go and jumped in! The theme is great and the gameplay sounds wonderful.

Games you want to play but can't

I'd also love to play Star Trek but I can never seem to convince my friend who is our resident Trekkie to run a ST game.

Games you want to play but can't

L5R. It was one of the main games my college group played but none of the folks from home are familiar with it. I could run it for them and I'm sure they'd give it a try but I have no passion for running games, so it wouldn't last long.

    D&D 5E (2014) Rangers and their beasts

I see a ranger and their animal companion as comrades who willingly fight their adversaries together--like He-Man and Battle-Cat, the Starks and their direwolves, or Drizzt and Guenhwyvar.

    D&D 5E (2014) New Session Prep Method

That's a great point. Sometimes our group will do an ad hoc party session prep when the GM ask us what we plan to do that session. Or I'll consider some things my character might want to do. But I never go through a formalized player session prep process. I'm not in a campaign at the moment...

    D&D 5E (2014) Why does 5E SUCK?

I hate how seriously broken the Simulacrum spell is. I tried casting it and bupkis. So instead of my clone going to work for me, doing my house chores, and being a dad while I play 5E, I have to do it all. (In fairness, I didn't participate in the open playtest, so maybe this is a bug I...
