What materials must a Player have/bring with them at a game session?

For me, all I ask is that you bring your character sheet and dice. While it is nice if you bring other things, we usually have everything else at my place. As for books, there are a number of them I prefer the players NOT to have, but that is a personal thing for me.

    Psionic Books: WotC and Others

So, I am finally getting around to possibly doing a campaign that allows psionics in it. I do not own any psionic books, mainly because I do not normally allow psionics in my fantasy games. That is a whole other thread, so I will not go over that here. What I am interested in finding out is, of...

Random Inn Generator w/Floorpalns and now Menus

Wow, I was going to say the exact same thing. Indoor plumbing, especially something as fancy as a toilet, is a rather modern invention. Sure, castles and some other buildings had garderobe (a small room with a hole leading to a cesspit or moat), but that was not all that common. Public toilets...

Irrevocable death? Or do you allow resurrection?

With my main gaming group I have to be very careful about player character death. My group is so incredibly clingy/obsessed with their characters that they get a bit whiny when they die. Heck, I made sample characters for a playtest of Gaslight which were meant to test all the races and classes...

    Film Noir/Two-fisted Action Games

Interesting list so far. I gave him a partial list and told him I had people giving me suggestions. I do not have the list in front of me, but here is what I remember giving him. Noir Mean Streets GURPS (with Cliffhangers) Mercenaries, Spies & Private Eyes Two-Fisted Tales Spirit of the...

    Film Noir/Two-fisted Action Games

A friend of mine is thinking abut running a game that is similar in style to film noir, with elements of two-fisted action as well. It's going to be more investigative in nature, but combat will fill a role in the game. Takes place in the 1930s. What he asked me to do is find a game system that...

Important: Please Read! Changes Are Coming!

Morrus, I have been checking out some of the changes. I even went to my profile to add in my Twitter username. I noticed the profile also had a spot to put my age, so I figured why not. That is when I discovered I am lumped in with a very large age group known as 40 and Over. Is there any way...

Important: Please Read! Changes Are Coming!

Morrus, I am looking through all of this, and it sounds like a subscription could be quite interesting. However, I also see something that strikes me as potentially harmful to your bottom line. It's a little thing I learned over the many years I have been involved with promoting a business. That...

Cancelling a session / not attending a session.

I play in an OD&D game most Tuesdays (work, illnesses and other things get in the way) and I play a D&D 3.0 game every other week from October through May. Gaslight will be intermixed with D&D 3.0 in the coming weeks, and other games are played when the whim strikes.

Cancelling a session / not attending a session.

I have a rather unique group for gaming, so we may be the exception to the rule. The group has 10 people: Me as the DM and 9 players. We game every other week Starting in October and ending in May. The rest of the year is off due to people wanting to do things in the spring and summer, and the...

Pathfinder 1E Pathfinder Character Creation: Point Buy or Roll of the Die?

I am not sure if I have 162 d6 to use for such an experiment. And where would I roll them? Not only that, but I have cats and breakables in my house, and I think the women in my group would fight dirty.

What are you playing that is NOT D&D?

We just finished a Classic Traveller game. We are going back to D&D 3 (with many mods), then we will be ramping up to play a Marvel Super Heroes game. I almost forgot to mention that I am told I will be running some Gaslight games soon. Maybe even at a convention in the Minneapolis area.

Pathfinder 1E Pathfinder Character Creation: Point Buy or Roll of the Die?

I find this to be quite interesting. I've been gaming for over thirty years now, and only recently have I seen the phenomenon of "character idea first, character creation second" in D&D character creation. For me, and for a great many people I know who game, the process has always been that you...

    Core Beliefs article list

Does anyone have a complete list of who was feature in the Core Beliefs series of articles? I am curious as to which ones were done and which ones I might have a go at writing up for my personal campaign. Thanks!

Would you subscribe to DDI if it supported older editions?

First off, I never claimed it was just a job for the intern. I know how hard it is to accurately update coordinated databases, I used to do that for a living. Second, if I have not bought a book, why on earth would I want that in the character builder? The character builder would (I imagine, I...

Would you subscribe to DDI if it supported older editions?

I voted no. The reason why is that I do not like the subscription model of the DDI. Buying a subscription to internet tools that do not work once I stop subscribing, or that I lose access to the articles is unacceptable to me. I want to access the material when and where I want without...

Players don't provide wish lists... What would you do?

I will admit up front that I have not played 4e, nor have I read all of the PH for 4e. I am curious though, does the game really tell you to submit wish lists of magic items you want for your character? To me that would take away some of the fun and mystery of finding a treasure. More often then...

    Dr Who RPG

They will be showing part one on Boxing Day. I was given the PDF as an early Christmas present. It looks like it is a lot of fun. Not sure if I want to run some games with the Doctor in a previous regeneration, or run a Torchwood game or something like the Sarah Jane Adventures (minus the kids).

How many gamers you know post in forums?

I know because I have asked. My group knows I post because I talk about what I see online and because I have talked about playtesting in the past.
