    D&D 3.x Idea for full-attack action replacement 3e

Thanks for pointing out the effect on haste and skirmish. Wouldn't want something like that surprising me AFTER I implement this as a houserule.... Also, I guess there's no need to ban FoB. I was actually confusing it with Whirlwind Attack, to which the abovementioned options would NOT apply...

    Spellthief: Steal Spell Effect

Now you're confusing me more. Let me restate the question: If it means A, then: -He can steal a mage armor from a 3rd lvl wizard -He can NOT steal a mage armor from a 4th lvl wizard -He can steal a mage armor from a 4th lvl wizard, if that wizard used a wand or potion of mage armor to get...

    D&D 3.x Idea for full-attack action replacement 3e

I've been thinking of a way to drop the full-attack option as well, but have been thinking in an entiry different direction: I hate the fact that it is an all-or-nothing option, especially at higher levels. At low levels, you gain no benefit from standing next to your target, since you get...

    Spellthief: Steal Spell Effect

I have a question about the Spellthief's 'Steal Spell Effect' ability: The abilities' description says: 'A spellthief can't steal a spell effect if its caster level exceeds his class level + his Charisma modifier.' Assuming a 2nd lvl spellthief with CHA bonus +1, does this mean: a. he...

"Ouch! My toes!" - Rangers & Druids

I'm not sure how spellcasting works in E6, but the no-spellcasting variant (from complete champion) gives additional bonus feats for weapon style if I'm not mistaken. Might be more appropriate than spellcasting after lvl 4 in an E6 campaign.

Prestige Bard (UA) and Bardic Music

Maybe I'm missing something, but..... Am I seeing correctly that the Prestige Bard from Unearthed Arcana gets Mass Suggestion, but not Suggestion itself as a Bardic Music ability?

    Level Drain

Nagol: do you have a reference for that? Can't see one in the SRD, and away from books... Others: for reference, I used the CR15 elite vampire from the Monster Manual I (against lvl 11/10/10/9/8 party) which has levels of monk and shadow dancer (so I should probably have reduced the CR...

    Level Drain

Unless I'm mistaken, an Undead (in this case, Vampire)'s Level Drain (Energy Drain that causes level los) doesn't allow an initial save. (please correct me immediately if I'm wrong) This means accumulating penalties during combat without a save. I (the DM) and my players hate level drain...

How many times can this monster constrict?

Sidenote: if the lamia takes a -20 on its grapple checks, it isn't considered grappled and thus keeps its dex bonus against the rogue...

Question for groups who rotate DM's

I have one campaign with rotating DM's. We refer to it as the Time Campaign. Most of the 'problems' you could encounter are bypassed by effectively re-starting at every DM switch: each DM runs in a different era, all set on historical Earth, every time at least two generations further into the...

D&D 3.x Crafting costs minus provided materials (3.5)

For mundane items, the RAW manufacturing time is based on the market price. (for details, see the Craft skill description). However, as a houserule I allow the following: The manufacturing time is based on the difference between raw matials and the market price. (standard, you 'craft' 2/3 when...

Try it in your game? Remove caster level.

This houserule sounds a bit like the way Psionics work... Instead of implementing this houserule, why not just replace wizard and cleric casting with a psionic equivalent, and see how that works?

    Prestige Ranger Feats

*BUMP* Seriously? No reactions at all? No opinions? No references to charop threads that misuse this fact for super builds? No comments of people stating 'this is why I ban this book'? At the very least, I would have expected a reference to the SRD pages containing the prestigious...

    How much is changed?

I did this in my campaign until I switched to 3.5 complety. Nothing much changes (as long as you switch THAC0 to bonus on attack rolls,as well) although IIRC there is a certain range in THAC0 where you only hit AC 20 that you may need to account for. I chose to ignore it.

D&D 3.x 3.5 Sneak Attack and Flame Touched

No. Unless I'm mistaken, a morning star deals bludgeoning/piercing damage. If a monster is immune/resistant against one of these types (but not the other) it deals full damage. If enhanced by SA, it still deals bludgeoning/piercing damage, I'm not sure where 'flame touch' is from (couldn't...

    Prestige Ranger Feats

I've just started a new campaign, in which I allow pretty much every official 3.5 book. One of my players has decided to go for the Prestige Ranger from Unearthed Arcana. Reviewing the PrC, I noticed it doesn't mention the armor restriction for the bonus TWF/Ranged Combat feats that the Base...

Alternative Class Feature which substitute Familiar, for a generalist Wizard?

First off, I'd like to point out the Generalist Elven Wizard substitution levels from races of the wild (assuming you're not aware of them). Second, there's a bunch of ACF from Dragon #357, mentioned here...

    Good Cleric with Command Undead

Not RAW, but you could introduce this as a houserule (or introduce it as a feat): Disrupt Control: Prerequisite: Turn Undead If your Turn result indicates you destroy undead, they are destroyed. However, if you only 'turn' them, you do not make the undead flee as would be the usual result...

D&D 3.x Help me build this character in 3.5

I'm a bit hesitant to suggest it, since the class lists barely above 'Expert', but there's a Master base-class in War of the Lance. It's a class that lets you specialize in one (actually, after a certain level, two) of the skill-groups: Craft, Knowledge,Profession and Perform. It gives access...

D&D 3.x Help me build this character in 3.5

You could take Able Learner (possibly in combination with a dip into a class that gives your required skills as class skills) to overcome the 'not a class skill for this class' problem.
