Points of Light and the Forgotten Realms

An attack of this magnitude would seem like the stuff high level adventures are made of. It wouldn't be something where I'd think Mystra would ring up the nearest 1st level adventuring party. If a group of high level or near-Epic level PCs is working to stop the destruction of the Weave, why...

Core materials: Action Points and Insider

I've had plenty of imaginary characters die from imaginary sword wounds, eaten by cat people, decapitated by fungus...all while using action points. The action points didn't lessen the sense of danger. Sometimes they helped, but quite a few times they were last ditch efforts that didn't work...

D&D 4E Weapon Sizes must die in 4E

Count me in as "cool with the 3.5E weapon rules". It would be very odd to have a kobold-sized short sword function as one made for a hill giant. I have a character right now who's using a large dagger. I imagine it as sort of a large bowie knife/short sword you can throw thing. So, I'm at...

Core materials: Action Points and Insider

Unless I'm mistaken, the Eberron version of AP lets you take an extra use of a class ability. I'm a huge fan of action points and have used them as DM and player in several different games (not just Eberron). It's interesting to note that in all of those games (3 or 4 separate campaigns using...

D&D 4E David Noonan on 4E "Cloudwatching" (Added Dave's newest comment from his blog)

I don't think that's really fair. The grappling rules are very cumbersome and I can see it slowing combat down quite a bit of you have a lot of creatures using the grapple action as part of their primary method of attack. If a DM or player doesn't use the grapple rules often, it can definitely...

D&D 4E David Noonan on 4E "Cloudwatching" (Added Dave's newest comment from his blog)

I tore my shirt and then instantly regretted it. It was a really nice bowling shirt with palm trees embroidered on it. Wizards owes me a shirt!!!

    Renaming the G-word (hint: fighter-mages)

I kind of like Fighter Mage. It seems like there have been a tons of riffs on the x-blade name in fantasy lately, so for me simple is better.

Power levels and more - Andy Collins quotes

Agreed. Also, as a player it really sucks to be the guy who says "well, I guess I'll have to be the x class". It would be nice to be able to play whatever you want without severely crippling the party.

    New name for Warlord

I actually like Tactician. It's probably too bland, but I like it a lot more than Warlord. I agree with those that say Warlord sounds inappropriate for low level characters and also carries some pretty heavy real world negative connotations.

    Duskblade: 1st two feats

I know you said you wanted to avoid things specifically armor related, but what about the Battle Caster feat that lets you wear heavier armor (allowing, I think, you to eventually use heavy armor with your duskblade abilities). Otherwise, it seems that you're going to be a little light on AC to...

D&D 4E Support from mainstream booksellers - Ended by 4e?

Yeah, I really assumed that the major chains wouldn't even be troubled to notice on a corporate level. A few returned PHb's, etc. seems like a drop in the bucket compared to a couple thousand poor, forgotten copies of "Who Moved my Cheese". I'd be curious to see, as another poster mentioned...

    Good Eberron novels?

Seconded for both of those suggestions. I really liked "The Dragon Below" but haven't started the next book yet. I did read the entire Dreaming Dark trilogy and enjoyed it as well. I liked City of Towers and Shattered Land more than Gates of Night but all three were very good. Both series...

WotC's forum "Iconics" discussion thread (or "goobye, Lidda")

Exactly. A lot of the other Iconics seem bland and not very memorable (I have a hard time thinking of more than one Regdar illustration). Maybe it's just choice of artists, but Lidda always seems interesting and usually kind of funny. Someone mentioned fiction. Are there actually novels with...

WotC's forum "Iconics" discussion thread (or "goobye, Lidda")

Absolutely. Except for Lidda. Lidda must stay. Who can resist Lidda and her "exploding cigar" picture in the 3.X PHB skills section? :D

    Turning D&D into WoW?

I seriously have no idea what any of this means. Would the version for the WoW-impaired be "it's really hard"?

    D&D 4E 1st level 4E characters are already Heroes

I'm sure there will still be a state of "fragility", but not as extreme as it is right now. I don't care for 1st level much either and my main issue is not only are characters fragile, they can be plain old incompetent. IMO, It's one thing to have that sense of danger at 1st level (although it...

    Just Not Feelin' It...

I can't say I'm exactly feeling 4E yet. I'm definitely bummed about impending obsolescence of a lot of my crunch-heavy books. I like the work of many of the folks working on 4E, but I haven't really seen anything to get excited about yet. So, yeah, not really feelin' it. Then again, I...

    Thank You!

Sorry, actually meant didn't vote for them for first place. I'm 99% sure WotC was my #2 choice. There have been a lot of recent WotC books that I've really enjoyed.

    Thank You!

Congrats on the award, Scott and the WotC folks. Honestly, I didn't vote for Wizards (had to go with Green Ronin this year), but WotC was a close second. PHB 2 and Complete Mage were great products, and a lot of the Eberron stuff was awesome as well. BTW, what's wrong with meatspace? Where...

D&D 4E 4E's announcement left you in what condition? ;)

I first felt Stunned then the above, minus the grease, which could be the new condition of BOHICA that was mentioned earlier.
