Huh. I told my cleric player to make a spell attack (which made sense at the time, since the hammer was a spell), but you're right, it does specify melee attack. @_@

One thing that really bothers me in 4E is the false sense of improvement that comes with level increases. The magic item arms-race is also connected to this issue. Yes, you're getting that bonus to attack rolls as you go from levels 1-30; but then so does the monster defenses of the creatures...

I didn't mind magic missile auto-hitting so much - that's vintage. :cool: On the other hand, I found it odd that after reading the bit on spells prepared at higher slots being more potent, the one spell that scales does so automatically without requiring a higher slot. But magic missiles fired...

...but I don't see a dragon. As in, I don't see stats for a dragon. :p It's not really a complaint - I'm okay with dragon stats to be a little delayed if it means the stats, even at the playtest stage, are going to wow me. I just thought it's an interesting thing to note, that's all. :D
