I like the PoL/PoD version. The 'good' guys are kings/retired heroes surrounded by circles of peons. The really bad guys are surrounded by circles of kobolds/goblins/orcs, etc. These circles are just starting to overlap after the cataclysm, as each side expands, pushing the rings out.

And from here, the next step is the near-orgasmic thrill of saying: "And THAT, my friends, is a little thing we in the business like to call a TPK."

I love reading these things. I'm putting together a 2nd group of encounters for our group now, and it's always good to see any potential gotchas (like the dragons darkness ability) in advance.

The darkness ate our baby, as well. If the DM hadn't shut it down - no chance.

I like the healing potion but does it imply that, if you've used all your daily surges, it only grants 1d6 hp?

Who asked you? My only concern with these is there's no limit to the size of the opponent. Just don't see that halfling paladin flattening a huge dragon.

Nice writeup - I enjoyed that. We test-drove the rules a bit last session, and I'm going to run a more complete playtest this week. Looking forward to it.

It was an encounter power, too, and limited to 5 squares. I used it to jump across a chasm into a melee, then realized I couldn't use it to jump back. *gulp*

Didn't look like you used the dragon's darkness ability. That was a showstopper for us - until the DM stopped using it, we had no chance of hitting it. Once that happened, the sniper shot it full of holes.
