Support the OGL v1.0a; sign this change.org petition

Yeah, this is all I have, since I have never held a paid subscription to DBB to cancel, and I doubt my not buying a WotC book in the future will have immediate impact where it counts now.

Rumours: WotC Announcement Today; Insider Email Reveals Plans

Well, it does kind of feel like they are taking a page from the Xbox playbook: push out the game pass, make it work on any platform, keep making Xboxes as a loss leader to get the digital purchases and subscription money in for the pass. The pass, meanwhile gives you access to a lot of games...

    RPG Evolution: This Sounds Familiar

That would be really good if they are seeing a mass exodus from DDB.

Signed! Did a little donation too to help them spread word. And blogged about it.

    EN Publishing & The OGL

I just discovered Level Up (and bought all of it as a result), so I am really hoping you can de-OGLify and re-release under whatever creative commons approach you take; I will also be delighted to support WoiN as well, so count me in on backing whatever you do.

Rumours: WotC Announcement Today; Insider Email Reveals Plans

Speaking of which, I am beginning to wonder if One D&D will support print media at all at this point.

    RPG Evolution: This Sounds Familiar

The only downside in this comparison to the WotC OGL situation is that Patreon could see the impact in real time. I think WotC will have to plough through the One D&D release to see the impact on the TTRPG avd VTTRPG markets.

OGL: Kobold Press 'Raising Our Flag' For New Open RPG

This emphasizes a key issue with D&D....the majority of its content is actually derivative. Trolls in D&D are from Poul Anderson's novels. Drow may be an amalgamation of Black Martians and Norse dark elves, and clearly are related to other IPs that stand uncontested like Warhammer. Displacer...

RPG Print News – Free League and More

They had been in a legal tussle....I think GF9 sued WotC, but I thought it was settled out of court. Not sure where they are at today (searching reveals nothing new).

Nirvana on Fire....backed! Loved Dying on Hardlight Station, so looking forward to this one.

Level Up (A5E) Dungeon Delver’s Guide Available in PDF

Thanks for this reminder! As one who is feeling very uncharitable to WotC right now, I just went and ordered seven print products for Level Up, all the core books, a couple magazines, and GM screen.

RPG Print News – Free League, Cubicle 7, Modiphius, and More

Makes sense though for Paizo....they sort of saturated the market with pawns, and now a lot of the market is going virtual. I have boxes....crates, I daresay, of pawns I haven't had to use in almost three years now.

RPG Print News – Free League, Cubicle 7, Modiphius, and More

Just grabbed Creature Feature (a new sourcebook/modules for BTS....with a lot of monsters in it?....wow!) and got the whole Blade Runner package straight from Free League just in time for Christmas. Lots of good stuff to start the new year with!

D&D 5E (2024) WotC On One D&D Playtest Survey Results: Nearly Everything Scored 80%+!

I think we can. For example, when my son shows a sudden interest in D&D due to Stranger Things, I can hand him the latest Basic Set for 5E and he can figure it out. Although 3E did have a couple starter sets, and I think he might have been able to figure those out, I know that the next step...

Yes! I would kill for a Nentyr Vale sourcebook for 5E.

D&D 5E (2024) One D&D Permanently Removes The Term 'Race'

Species works fine, I've been essentially defaulting to thinking of it that way since the 1E days anyway. That said, I like that Richard Baker link above, kindred is excellent as a concept, and was in use as early as 1975 with Tunnels & Trolls where it has served that game quite well.

What's All This About The OGL Going Away?

Well, also possibly a rumor started by a random a vlogger who needed more youtube hits and decided to run with the idea.

What's All This About The OGL Going Away?

But the advantage of the OGL is it provides a community framework for a very specific type of product (D&D/D20 compatibility) with protections for specific IP while allowing the sharing of other content that creative commons simply won't ever achieve. Creative Commons is great for an individual...

What's All This About The OGL Going Away?

Your last point is well made; part of the point of the OGL is to bring your release "under the fold" as a product which can then inspire and contribute to other projects by other people. You might refrain from including specific IP content (you can identify under your own product's OGL listing...
