    Farewell, my Friend

Farewell to both DUNGEON and DRAGON. I want to extend special thanks to Mike, Jeremy, Wesley, Jason, James Jacobs, James Sutter, Erik, and everyone else who did such superhuman work in producing these great magazines. I have been reading and collecting DRAGON since issue #41, and every month...

Ha! I've got Aces & Eights!

This is the most beautiful role-playing book I've ever owned or seen. The paper is the absolutely highest quality -- thick, glossy, durable. It gives the book a great "heft" to it that tells you this is a quality book. The binding is sturdy on the inside, handsome on the outside. It would...

Ha! I've got Aces & Eights!

I hope that is a good sign, being that I'm here in the Midwest, too! I've been hoping my FLGS would give me a call that my copy is in...This game looks fantastic!

    Buzz on Aces and Eights?

This game just looks incredible based on the previews. After spending the weekend watching John Wayne movies, I wanted the game to be out now! The shot clock is a fun idea -- "aim small, miss small..." Can't wait to get a copy of this!

Experiences with Psionics in 3rd (and 3.5) Edition

I found this out the hard way...I tend to prefer fewer, bigger fights rather than more numerous, smaller combats.

Chris Pramas (Green Ronin) on the future of D&D

Isn't this the acquisition of George R.R. Martin's "Song of Fire & Ice" property for a new role-playing game, to be released by Green Ronin?

Looks like wizards are staffing up

Perhaps this will calm (temporarily, at least) the ongoing rumors about D&D being sold in the near future? Companies about to sell brands or divisions usually don't hire new employees first.

Knights of the Dinner Table Magazine

Knights of the Dinner Table is truly an excellent and fun gaming magazine. All by their lonesome, the comic strips make each issue a tremendously good value. Throw in the gaming-related material, the reviews, and even the ads, and the magazine is just about the best value out there in gaming...

Pathfinder 1E Paizo no longer publishing Dungeon and Dragon

An unfortunate decision by Wizards, a very sad day for the hobby, and the end of an era. I started reading DRAGON with #42, and DUNGEON with #1. Congratulations to Erik, James, Mike, Wesley, Jason, and everyone else at Paizo who has done such a marvelous job on the two magazines these past...

Tom Moldvay passes away (see post #52)

Extremely sad, unfortunate news. If it weren't for Mr. Moldvay, I probably would not have started playing D&D when I did. He will be missed...

    Zogonia: Slice of Death

Tony's stuff is some of the most gut-busting funny gaming humor I've ever seen. I was saddened to see his web site was "down" so to speak. I hope things go well for him, and I look forward to the release of his book.

    Dundjinni web site problems?

I noticed today that the Dundjinni web site seems to be having some problems. The store has no products listed, and some pages don't work at all. Anyone have any news on what might be happening with Dundjinni's web site? Thanks. EDIT: Naturally, as soon as I post this, the web site seems to...

Looking for M&M/HERO campaign in C.R./Eastern Iowa area

I am hoping to locate players or a group to play Mutants & Masterminds (2e) or Hero (Champions) with. I have experience with 4th edition Champions, but have not yet read through the 5th edition revised rules for HERO. I have yet to play M&M, but would avidly like to do so. Let me know if you...

Very well said, and a nice coda on a rules debate...

    Champions RPG

Some of the best role-playing I've ever experienced used Champions/HERO 4th edition. The game had its warts, like all games do, but it could be crazy fun. Like any game, there are times where game reality takes a strange turn. A motorcycle needs to have the power Shrinking, always on, no END...

Do you agree with WotC selling errata?

Well said... A revision is substantively different from errata.

    Descent and D&D

Arkham Horror is an awesome game, and one of the few games that can be fun solo. I haven't tried the Dunwich Horror expansion, but I have the Curse of the Dark Pharoah expansion.

    Commuting to a game

I DM and I host, so my commute is pretty brief... Among my players, however, half of my group commutes to Cedar Rapids, IA for our games. One player commutes from Lake Forest (way north of Chicago, 4 hours one way, give or take) Two players commute about two hours (one way). One player...
