    Epic Skills: Broken but HILARIOUS

My groups have been breaking the rules of the game then... We use intimidate to prevent & end fights all the time. Of course there are modifiers based on things like numbers, who's taken a whooping, who's smart/stupid, etc. Sometimes if something seems odd and not quite right, you might need...

[Artificer]Does making an item need to be 8 hours in a day?

I didn't think it would be any different for Artificers and Wizards. I knew that it gives the number days as a result of time and each day = 8 hours. I only really thought of it because I've played RPGs where making magic items/spells took days to weeks to months and you were given the total...

[Artificer]Does making an item need to be 8 hours in a day?

Or can you mix it up? If you had time could you do 12 hours in a 24 hour period (1.5 days of work)? If something came up could you do 2, 4 or 6 hours in a 24 hour period and just work more days? Or does only 8 hours in a day count and if something comes up the days work is wasted?

    Epic Skills: Broken but HILARIOUS

Higher level characters, without magic or items - just with their own ever increasing skill and ability - become more and more superhuman. By the time you even hit level 20, you've got characters who are more potentially more skilled than anyone on earth and can do things that would set new bars...

[SC2.0] What classes are fantasy appropriate

Very cool Morg. The last time I'd seen the 2.0 conversions for these guys I don't think it was as fully complete and I don't think there were notes for flat out converting d20 magic to 2.0.

    sorcerers

The Sorcerer shone pretty well in our group when we were trying to find some slave handlers. My Sorcerer was using magic to change his facial appearance to look like a potential slave buyer we had locked up at our place. I had to cast it a few times that night as we went to different places...

What issue of Dragon are these in?

    sorcerers

I answered it in that text you quoted. The mechanics are more responsive to change because they're not as set in stone as the Wizards. The wizard chooses magic in advance, so by definition of the word, he's not very responsive to change. The Sorcerer can choose his spells & apply any known...

    sorcerers

The Wizard has the potential to cover a wide variety of possibilities, competently and almost certainly not all at once. Merlion, you seem to be treating Wizards like they're Clerics. Wizards don't automatically get full spell lists by level. They get like a spell or two. Thats it. Everything...

    sorcerers

Not true. If thats the only benefit you think Sorcerers have, then thats why you undervalue their casting. They can choose to cast any of their spells with any metamagic feats attached at a whim, while the Wizard may be in a situation where she can't use the spells they have prepared or they...

    sorcerers

A wizard doesn't automatically get teleport, so don't treat it like a given. And the point of what KarinsDad was trying to make didn't have anything to do with Teleport, but a spell that both the Sorcerer & Wizard both know. The spell could be ButterTheBread (just to remove 3.x spell...

    sorcerers

No, what everyone has been saying is that magic is two things: 1. How you cast. (flexibility) 2. What you know. (Versatility) The Sorcerer casts better due to their flexibility. The Wizard has a larger variety of spells. Together the two pretty much cancel each other out mechanically...

Ok, you summed up what I was getting at a few posts ago in four easy to read sentances. Thank you :)

Just wanted to agree mostly and stress one major point: The Wizard potentially has a wider variety of spells. The Wizard potentially has the right spells for the right job. A lot of people (not picking on you Thanee) are taking it as a given that just because the Wizard can attempt to...

    Lock Picking Difficulties

The GM seemed really put off by us wanting to smash the lock on the treasure chest. His manurisms really got stiff and his voice raised in pitch and he made side comments about how bad that was to do if there was treasure inside... either he doesn't think that should be a valid option or he...

    sorcerers

What makes them more flexible at spell casting is the definition of the word flexible (Responsive to change; adaptable) and the rules for how a Sorcerer cast spells. A Sorcerers mechanics for casting spells is more responsive to change & adaptable than the Wizards. I followed it with this...

Modes of Movement (like flight) as skills

That is one thing that D&D and most of standard d20 dissapoints me in skills. Often skills are just pass/fail. Some are harder, but it often doesn't matter if you beat the roll by 1 or 10 or 30. Iron Heros was supposed to have ideas for skills where you can do extra things for beating the TN...

    Lock Picking Difficulties

So far in this game we've been playing in for 3 sessions, we had just hit level 2. At level 1 our Rogue with 4 ranks of Open Lock... something like +6 to +8, taking 20 and he couldn't open up a lock on an orphanage. At level 2 the rogue goes to pick the lock on a chest and it's basically...

Modes of Movement (like flight) as skills

Yes, I suppose so. I didn't know categories were watered down here on enWorld, I normally enter on the D&D Rules Forum or the OGL Forum. Sorry about that.
