I think a lot of the races are named after the culture and nation they originate in, so in a standard game we have Humans as a race, but in Talislanta they have names like Xambrian, Arimite, and so on, named after the nation or culture. Me, I like the Kang. They would teach those Cymirilians...

I think that's one of the more confusing things about MnM, to me at least, is the stacking rules. You have Force Field, and you have Armor. They both offer Protection (right?)... and if both are at rank 7, you can only use one, even if you are wearing the armor and using the force field...

I like Monks, but I like the Weapon Master class from Black Company a whole lot more. They did away with the mysticism, but kept all the monk stuff that really makes them shine like flurry of blows, and they gain more bonus feats as they gain levels instead of all the eastern-mysticism powers...

I think D&D does D&D very well, which is..it doesn't mimic movies all that well, nor modern day fantasy novels (including most Dragonlance and Forgotten Realms novels I have read), but it does D&D itself awesomely well. :D

Ooo ooo...don't forget BESM 3e coming out later this year, with their new Role-over mechanic instead of roll-under (which I didn't really like all that much). Now that it's roll-over, and a new edition, that ones also looks pretty darn cool.

I just thought of one that would fit the grittiness of the world, any non magic using classes from Dark Sun 3 at athas.org, especially the Brute and Gladiator, and even the Bard (I think they have a non spellcasting variant, I could be wrong). Gladiator type events will be bigger in my world...
