    M&M stacking powers

The stacking rules is one of the inherent flaws of the game and the main reason why I don't play it. That and it uses a d20 so I changed that for 2d10 if I ever ran it. If you don't think of the game in Power Level terms, and just give them straight points, like 150 points and keep the...

    Dealing with Player Cheating

Also, if you have all the players roll in the open, roll in the open yourself. It will show trust on your part and also show incentive for your players to want to roll in the open as well. Personally, I really dislike DMs who roll all their dice behind a game screen, or on a computer. I, as a...

    Gary Gygax's Insidiae feedback?

This is a book I wouldn't mind picking up but my FLGS hasn't had a copy of it yet (I think). When I get more $$$$ I'll go look for it. Sounds like something I could use.

PCs who don’t talk to each other.

After about a month of this (this is the only game I ever ran that was weekly...I miss the weekly games) the players did conversate more on their own without realizing it, and I didn't have to pull out the watch as much, but whenever there was a logical long pause in the game, I did pull it out...

You knew this was coming. Who will die in the next Harry Potter book

My predition for the next dead person is the person who was the Prisoner of Azkaban...I can't remember his name though, but he's gonna die. As for the half-blood prince, I haven't the faintest clue since I haven't read any of the books. ;) Just goin by the movies.

The D&D Movie Liker's Thread **SPOILERS**

I liked the deleted scenes on the dvd that adds all the necessary scenes for all the major plot points in the movie. I did like the overall story he was trying to tell. War against the wizards, the wizards being oppressive (in theory at least, it just didn't come out in execution), some...

IKWG is at the printers and no one is talking about it?!?!?!

Man...this is bad news. My wife is gonna be mad at me. I'm gonna get this game. Uh oh. :) For those who have IK, how well are the technology rules done?

    Talislanta d20

I think a lot of the races are named after the culture and nation they originate in, so in a standard game we have Humans as a race, but in Talislanta they have names like Xambrian, Arimite, and so on, named after the nation or culture. Me, I like the Kang. They would teach those Cymirilians...

    M&M stacking powers

I think that's one of the more confusing things about MnM, to me at least, is the stacking rules. You have Force Field, and you have Armor. They both offer Protection (right?)... and if both are at rank 7, you can only use one, even if you are wearing the armor and using the force field...

    Theories of magic IYC

IMC there is one religion that follows the One God, a real deity that made his presence three centuries ago and started the God's War, which lasted a good half century or more. His devout followers and personal military, called Inquisitors, are blessed with the divine magic of mental powers, or...

    Do we really need Monks?

I like Monks, but I like the Weapon Master class from Black Company a whole lot more. They did away with the mysticism, but kept all the monk stuff that really makes them shine like flurry of blows, and they gain more bonus feats as they gain levels instead of all the eastern-mysticism powers...

PCs who don’t talk to each other.

I find this a lot, a lot more than I wish but I think playing D&D for years and playing it like a hack-n-slash game (enter dungeon, kill creatures, gain levels, steal loot, repeat, repeat, repeat) will tend to produce a generation of players who are not that talkative, and do not really know how...

    Homebrew World Preparation

This is for all of you out there that have created your own worlds... Just how much do you prepare before you begin your first game session? I am coming up with just the basics of my own world, and the feel I am going to present (Black Company meets Dark Sun with no real clerical healing --...

    Talislanta d20

As long as it has the Tal 4e magic system I'm going to get it. Okay...I'll probably get it for the massive amounts of races and information it will have to mine for my own world. ;)

    Does D&D fill every niche?

I think D&D does D&D very well, which is..it doesn't mimic movies all that well, nor modern day fantasy novels (including most Dragonlance and Forgotten Realms novels I have read), but it does D&D itself awesomely well. :D

2005 -- A Good Year For 'Rules Lite' FRPGs?

Ooo ooo...don't forget BESM 3e coming out later this year, with their new Role-over mechanic instead of roll-under (which I didn't really like all that much). Now that it's roll-over, and a new edition, that ones also looks pretty darn cool.

[Black Company] outside sources of classes and PrC's

I just thought of one that would fit the grittiness of the world, any non magic using classes from Dark Sun 3 at athas.org, especially the Brute and Gladiator, and even the Bard (I think they have a non spellcasting variant, I could be wrong). Gladiator type events will be bigger in my world...

[Black Company] outside sources of classes and PrC's

I think having a single spellcasting class and this magic system is almost worth it for the book alone, but having all the other classes and combat options blew me away. I really like all that. I plan on adapting PrC and possibly other core classes to my own world, but I've never really done...
