    Fighting in darkness?

Wouldn't they both have disadvantage until one person hides (making no sound or sneaking in the dark) as an action. That person will then gain advantage, canceling out his disadvantage, whilst the other would still have a disadvantage. Makes sense to me.

Mike Mearls: A Paladin, Ranger, and Wizard With Arcane Tradition Walk Into A Tavern

Only if people use that rule and use XP. I never saw it enforced.

Settings - Advancing Timelines, Reimagining, Etc.

I think it would be cool if they did setting support in Dragon and Dungeon magazines. If they feel that some settings are rather to close to the base DnD world, why doesn't WotC have dedicated articles or themed months updating the old setting to the base rules whilst pointing out useful...

I'm having a love affair with GUMSHOE

Are there any good introductory modules for people interested in trying out the system? It sounds very interesting, but I learned long ago that the only way I could get my group to try out a new system is if I run them a scenario with pregen characters.

Pax Prime seminar 2012 juicy news!

4e was edition that made me like paladins. I always wanted to like the 3e paladin but never did. It always felt like a fighter with a few random abilities tacked on. First 4e character? Halfling Paladin

    Wildshape

The 4E essentials Paladin worked of virtues (Valour and Sacrifice) and the Blackguard embodied vices. Its a good idea

Pre-Release Review of 13th AGE (Part 1) by Pelgrane Press

Thanks for the review. A friend of mine pre-ordered this so we should check it out soon. Question though: with all the classes having unique talents and abilities is this game really as rules light and more free wheeling as it claims to be? And Of course the Monk should be a worthless mess...

    D&D 5E (2014) You can't necessarily go back

While I dont doubt you feel this way I must admit I have found the 4e dmg advice very useful for 4e games. but perhaps because I got the idea that 4e basically says this: "You get rules for for things that you need rules for. These rules work as written but feel free to reflavour and change as...

Wo only need the druid class!

Sigh I wasnt talking about balance but simplicity. It was a very simple way of doing shapechange that didnt involve looking up stats in a book.

    New Sorcerors are too "vulgar"

I like a lot about the about the dragon sorcerer. But I must admit the draconic transformation seems a bit off, especially when compared to the other classes. The mechanics are fine for me, I just find the flavour a bit strange

Wo only need the druid class!

I think we can see why 4e went the route it did for wild shape even though some dont like it. An advantage of the 4e approach though was that the druid player could narrate his druid shifting in to multiple animals in a battle ala Beast Boy without worrying about mechanics. Another important...

Wo only need the druid class!

Actually the concept of power sources existed more for story purposes than anything else. The idea of the primal power source came from the developers asking the questions: "What is nature magic? Why isn't the druid just a nature cleric?" The answer the got and the story created around those...

Wo only need the druid class!

I think it would be a good idea if the shapechanging and animal companion aspects of the druid would be more tied to the exploration and roleplay pillars of the game instead of being a combat thing. A druid could turn into a mouse to sneak into enemy camps or a eagle to get the lay of the land.

Wo only need the druid class!

At least the game didnt go to a complete stop as the druid's player rummaged through the monster manual.

    DDN and Campaign settings

That was the idea in 4E They wanted each setting to be a different take on DnD. Thats why we had High Fantasy in Forgotten Realms, Pulp noir in Eberron and brutal non standard fantasy Dark Sun. They were going to do Ravenloft (Gothic Horror) but sadly they changed their minds.

    Must Try Harder: Spell Levels

well I think the spamming is more due to the player but I can agree that some spells should have a minimum spell level or suchlike. I really hope we never see meta magic again though :-S Also simple damage spells like magic missle are much better as at-wills

Rolling for Ability Scores or Point Buy

Point buy But theres no reason not to include both in the book. Also would like to see some common arrays already made, like 4e had.

Alternatives to Human Ability Score Boosts

Well I personally like the humans but as an alternative how about this: A human gets all the stats boosts of his chosen class. in addition the human can gain advantage on a single roll a certain number of times per day.

Also not a fan of sub-race bloat.
