    Getting out of "swallow whole"

With some monsters, it's not hard to believe that muscle force or something along those lines might hold the wound shut to prevent massive bloodloss after they PC has cut his way out of the monster's belly. After all, if the monster has evolved to swallow large creatures whole, it certainly...

    D&D (& RPGs) at Work

I'm currently looking for a job, so can I compare that to the downtime between adventures? :) Could I be in training for my next level, I wonder? :p

You have to be a gamer to really understand

I infinitely prefer the Summoner Geeks version. What most people don't know about is that there is a part 2 to that audio clip, where one of the gamer's girlfriends is invited over. The group that did the audio is called the Dead Alewives... so if you can find their site you may be able to find...

More powerful spells at first level?

I agree with you Thomas, its too much to go laying out campaign-specific rules in these type of option books, but I don't think that means the question should be avoided alltogether... In fact, Nyeshet's few paragraphs would fit nicely as a sidebar in a book like this... just to give DMs an idea...

More powerful spells at first level?

RangerWicket, that brings up a really good point... there isn't much as far as rules go about the legality of magic. Sure, every system regulates Raise Dead, and making undead is always evil and illegal... but while every system mentions illegal magic and such, where are the rules that actually...

More powerful spells at first level?

I don't like the idea of limiting options too much like that... the point is to be as flexible as possible. But using antimagics and minor things to foil weak attempts by low level mages seems like a better way to go, IMHO.

    Player conundrum

My philosophy about disinterested players is that it can sometimes be that the DM is doing something wrong. When one of my players seems less in to the game than the others, I devote a session or at least a good part of a session to things that said player is specialized in. What skills does he...

Using EoM with "Buy the Numbers"

Hi, I created a post about converting the EoM magic system into a point buy version for "Buy the Numbers" campaigns. The final version is at the bottom of the page, along with the house rules I've been using to keep the system balanced. Here's the link...

MM and Elements of Magic, all done! And now some spells, too!

This is fantastic! :-) I am very impressed.

More powerful spells at first level?

This one is wonderful! I don't know how, but I completely forgot about the targetted antimagic effect. Being so cheap, it's the perfect spell for foiling those weaker mages. Thanks for pointing that out. I'm lucky it hasn't become a problem in game yet, so I can start putting these stones into...

More powerful spells at first level?

Thanks for the advice. :-) I'll start putting these in my dungeons from now on. The trick is to make sure published adventures are EOM-safe. ;-) That's where I got thrown off on this one. So EOM is changing the way I create dungeons, and that is not a bad thing. ;-)

More powerful spells at first level?

Well, requiring discriminating is not all that helpful, because the caster can easily just cast the spell on every party member instead, and then they all can teleport. And like I said, I don't really want to impose more house rules or cripple the spells for the players. But what would be a...

More powerful spells at first level?

well the problem comes from arrow slits, windows, and things like that... since you can bestow the spell upon everyone in your party, or even as an area effect. It becomes more powerful than dimension door, and that was not even available to such low-level casters. (still in game, sorry for...

More powerful spells at first level?

[Edit: I changed the title of this post to match the topic better... as I wrote the original post in a hurry and just threw that title in. It used to be "How do you deal with spell differences?"] I'm really enjoying using EOM in my game. The flexibility is fantastic, and all of my players...

    Dice Survivor ]|[

The d6 has always hated me and I don't know why. I get fair rolls on every other die, but the d6 always seems to know exactly what I don't want, and always turns it up. My monsters have to either use longswords or daggers or they'll never hurt the players. Fireball is a useless spell to me...

If you could Add one more race to the PHB

Lizardmen and a small sprite type of creature... not quite the sprites from the MM as they'd be too powerful, but just a tiny race with wings and very low Con score.

Help Me With A Math Problem

Okay, here's the conversion I've got. It's a little rough... but it more or less correllates. Thanks everyone for the help with that equation. Spellcaster Level: Use same rules as Buy the Numbers; directly convertable. Lists: List Number - Cost in XP 1 - 10 2 - 20 3 - 30 4 - 40 5 - 60 6 - 80 7...

Help Me With A Math Problem

bolen, Is there a way I can input a number into that excell file to find the value for each integer? This way I can make a chart for my players to show them the progression cost for each mana point. Thanks for all your help! :-)

Help Me With A Math Problem

Both of these books are almost 100% OGL so I think it's OK To post these. Please correct me if I'm wrong and I'll take them down immediately. Here is the XP-point cost progression that I am using from Buy the Numbers. It shows how much each spell slot costs to buy in XP. 0th-level slots 3...
