Holy Water or other weapons for undead?

Thanks for the article link, I had no idea that was in there. Typically I ignore WotC's online stuff. Serves me right. :) As for ongoing damage, I can see it eventually, but probably not for my 2nd level PCs. That strikes me as too powerful.

Holy Water or other weapons for undead?

These are some good ideas. Thanks everyone! I'd forgotten about the alchemical stuff upcoming in the equipment book (and this is after I just gave the PCs some of those items last session...) I'll have to go through and read that again. Since the group has a paladin but not a cleric, I was...

    KotS DM Discussion Thread (spoilers)

I have a smaller group (4-5 PCs) and we only meet once or twice a month, so I've been scaling back the module some. I removed a number of encounters that seemed either redundant or pointless, including: the burial site the 2nd kobold ambush on the way to the caves the expedition room the entire...

Holy Water or other weapons for undead?

Due to some investigation and interrogation, my PCs in Shadowfell keep know that they have a necromancer and some undead waiting for them. Since they're headed back to town to rest, they had the idea to get some holy water to help with the undead. Apparently, though, there isn't any holy water...

My players having more fun than me

I'm only speaking from personal experience here, but could it be the material of the game rather than the system? I picked up Keep on the Shadowfell as a way to preview the rules, but we were late starting so we're only about three sessions in. Unfortunately the module is a fairly uninspired...

    Forked Thread: KotShadowfell wierdness/plotholes.

If we make Sir Keegan a bad guy, we could pass his info off onto another NPC. Perhaps the spirit of his wife or child. He had a tomb built for them, in secret, then moved them down here after the slaughter, and drank the poison when all three were sealed from within. Making it a tomb instead of...

    Adventurers making money with profession

Microeconomics and edition wars aside, the important question is this: What does the player expect to get out of having an exotic weapons merchant? If it's just background info and he doesn't expect anything more, then you can file it under the "duly noted" category and get back to the game...

    4E DM's Surprised By Players?

Could someone post some specific examples? I've been hearing a lot about how 4e is more about tactics and teamwork (and this seems to be the case). I've played very little so far, however, so I haven't quite got my head around the change yet.

Names for Wizard School Student Groups

I think the teams should all have really grandiose, Vancian style wizard names. For example: Abjurers= The Persipacious Conjurers= The Thaumaturges Enchanters= The Enscorcellers

    Warfare in 4e

I think most tactical situations could be covered by existing skills. Bluff to feint the enemy, Stealth to hide the unit, Perception to spot the attackers, etc. This assumes that the PCs are leading the unit, or otherwise able to use their skills to help it. If you're thinking of tactics as...

Oddity I found when looking into EMusic

Their offers seem to come and go, probably based on how many recent new signups they've had. The original pages are usually still around, though. Google turned up this, which I used a few weeks ago, for 75 songs: http://www.emusic.com/me

    4th ED Vision of Mystara

Count me in as one of the people who doesn't see the need for an "official fan conversion", really of Mystara or any other setting. No one is going to agree anyway, so we might as well leave it up to individual DMs. When I was running under 3e, I didn't worry too much about direct number...

    4th ED Vision of Mystara

My thoughts on Dragonborn would be to have them in the area of the Plain of Fire and the Great Waste, and to have been a servitor race originally created by the Nithians. Alternately, if we're sticking with the "remnants of ancient empire" idea, then they could be from someplace like Davinia or...

    Another HUGE FFG 5-day sale.

Does anyone have any experience with Fireborn? It sounds interesting, but I'm not sure it's something I could find a group of players for...

    DM Burnout - Any Remedies?

Most of us don't wait. ;) Must say I've been having a bit of DM burnout myself this past year or so. I've had a dozen or so ideas for potential campaigns, picked up several cool supplements and settings, but nothing really seems to fire me up. Been considering trying some other systems, but...

    Strongholds?

By the end of our 2nd ed Mystara game, most of us had dominions, either in Glantri or Norwold. The only real exception (aside from the casual, come-and-go players) was the elven fighter/mage who had lost his kingdom to an army of dragons (hint: never challenge someone who has an army of dragons...

Zombie Outbreak - where to hide?

College dormitory. You'll have all the food you need provided it's connected to a dining hall. There's already plenty of furnishings, entertainment stuff, etc. It should have plenty of security measures as they're typically locked up at night. Here in the midwest ours also have underground...

What if Japan was a D&D nation?

Another vote for tiefling. This is because of an early D20 setting, Gothos, which had a Japanese-like empire ruled over by the tainted descendants of a demonic invader. This created a feudal caste system similar to Shogun Japanl, whereby one's proximity to the emporer/god (and, therefore, one's...

Help me name my Runepunk RPG!

Scanning the first post, the only unique term that lept out at my was Wyrm Sun. So, I say you go with that one. Sure, it's slightly close to Dragon Star, but a cover with a barbarian dude lasering a dragon on a blasted landscape should be enough to drive the point home. As for "runepunk", I'm...
