I got my Fighter/Rogue dominated in 3e, and was hoping I didn't end up helping a TPK. 2d6 greatsword +4d6 sneak attack + good str bonus + extra attacks if you were denied dex modifier... Luckily, there was no TPK. :)

For the last dungeon I ran, I used a pre-drawn map of the dungeon with a black layer on top. I used the pen as an eraser for the black layer, revealing the relevant parts of the map as they explored. It worked really well. The software I used was GIMP and the hardware was my Surface 3 pro.

It's an interesting option and I think you got the numbers about right, but I wouldn't use it at my table. I like the status quo where no character can start with more than a +3 modifier in a stat. Taking a feat instead of a stat gain at low-mid levels will come as a trade-off.

Yeah, I only DM-ed the first 4/5's of the module and skipped the dungeon crawl because I really didn't see the point. I thought it was even more redudant than you and skipped the whole thing. ;)

I don't agree that it has a lot of filler encounters, (or more precise, that they felt like fillers while running the module). I think the encounters felt quite natural. Some encounters were a bit too easy, but that was mostly due to it being a bit sandboxy. Should work better in 5e than in 3e...
