    D&D 5E (2014) If You Don't Have a Maneuver Ready..

..as your DM, if you don't know exactly what maneuver you're going to use as your reaction, or combined with your standard action, I may take it away from you for that round to speed up the game. What do you think about that? Am I too harsh?

D&D 5E (2014) Is multiple actions per rounds a good idea?

I'm now of the 1 main action, 1 off-hand action and one kick action per turn along with 1 reaction out of turn crowd. If a character wants two main actions with two large weapons, fine. But the second weapon should not have any bonuses and do less damage. Multiple attacks per round never...

    D&D 5E (2014) Attacks per round.

What? I've been wanting to discuss multiple attacks per round and it was all of you who convinced me to compromise. This is what I think now because it looks like the 1 reaction for everyone out of turn is going to stick. This is what I say now. 1 main attack action and 1 off-hand attack...

    D&D 5E (2014) I like 5th Edition! The D&D Next Positivity Thread

I like it. I like the idea of bonuses under +11. I like the actions and the 1 reaction. I like the expertise dice, just concerned about the added time it will take. I don't like the monsters. I don't like the spells/prayers.

D&D 5E (2014) Lightning Bolt, Web, and Sleep

Sleep is certainly useful for avoiding combat. I am aware of the coup-de-grace action but my campaign decided to change that from 0 hit points to maximum damage and then to just a regular damage roll. Why? Because when monsters do it to the characters -- people end up hating the DM. Then I've...

D&D 5E (2014) Lightning Bolt, Web, and Sleep

I missed your comments on those spells. Can you collect them and describe them here? I want to include some of those on my list.

D&D 5E (2014) Lightning Bolt, Web, and Sleep

You make a good point. Some of these spells are designed with other poorly designed spells in mind. Hit point limit spells aren't play testing well.

D&D 5E (2014) Glancing Blow or Deadly Strike?

That's how we've been playing it. Thanks for the confirmation.

    D&D 5E (2014) Exploration Rules You'd Like To See

I was a fan of 4th edition outcomes based on your skill check roll. A failed skill check doesn't have to result in death. As the other commenter said, an anchored rope can allow for another skill check before falling and taking damage. Caltrops can slow pursuers allowing the rouge to escape. The...

D&D 5E (2014) Lightning Bolt, Web, and Sleep

Sleep would be an enchantment/charm/control like spell that forces someone to do something they would otherwise not do. This is going to have to require a spell DC versus ? wisdom save? Every enemy that views the wizard should be affected? Or just make every enemy roll a save or fall asleep...

D&D 5E (2014) Lightning Bolt, Web, and Sleep

O.k. We've figured out how a web spell will work. That isn't so bad. But the Sleep spell.. was the saving throw versus spell DC forgotten?

D&D 5E (2014) Glancing Blow or Deadly Strike?

If the fighter misses, can he then select the Glancing Blow maneuver to do 1 expertise dice damage, or does the fighter have to declare his maneuver before he strikes? The fighter will then not be able to declare Deadly Strike? Is it a gamble? Or can you chose Glancing Blow after you miss?

    D&D 5E (2014) Drow Darkness

I will indicate that it doesn't require concentration and then try to get people to play test it again.

D&D 5E (2014) Lightning Bolt, Web, and Sleep

Thanks for answering that. I read the rules in the last play test and assumed they didn't change. Assuming..

D&D 5E (2014) Lightning Bolt, Web, and Sleep

All of you will be goofing off in the break room and then a 5th level wizard is going to come along and zap you with a lightning bolt.

D&D 5E (2014) Lightning Bolt, Web, and Sleep

At 5th level, a wizard can do 6d6/2 automatic damage to all enemies within a line. So let's line up 20 1st level wizard enemies with 8 hit points and kill them all without needing to roll much. Web is what? range 50 feet burst 20 feet 5 feet depth until wizard's concentration is broken? How do...

    D&D 5E (2014) Drow Darkness

O.k. then. The Drow touches something and casts a 15 foot radius area of darkness. Anyone stepping in this area is blind and moves at half speed and attacks at a disadvantage. Anyone attacking someone in the sphere of darkness also attacks at disadvantage. This lasts for 2 rounds unless the Drow...

    D&D 5E (2014) Drow Darkness

Yeah, well, no responses. The Drow is pretty broken. First, reloading the hand crossbow should take a full action. So the two attacks ain't going to work as is. The Drow can; shoot the hand crossbow and attack with the short sword on the first round or attack with the short sword twice or...

    D&D 5E (2014) Drow Darkness

How does the Drow Darkness work during combat? Can the Drow cast on herself and use it for cover? Can she attack without penalty? Can she see where she is going?
