    D&D 5E (2014) Make Cleric Healing a Minor Action

Would it really kill any player to let the Cleric heal once at a range of 50 feet and then be allowed cast an assault spell such as Lance of Light? What if we had expertise dice for the healing and subjected it to a reaction out of turn or action?

D&D 5E (2014) More maneuvers at low level.

As your DM, I would just like to stick to 3 powers(maneuvers, spells, prayers, feats, etc..) for new characters. This gives everybody a chance to practice the mechanics of the game without being overwhelmed. Also, 3 starting skills should be enough either from a background or from some kind of...

D&D 5E (2014) Do You Like the Reaction?

Expertise Dice issues aside, do you like the reaction idea in which characters can take 1 action out of turn? For me, it's adding a whole new exciting element to the game. The dwarven fighter saved two first level characters with his Protect maneuver. People are impressed that this is building...

    D&D 5E (2014) Two-Weapon Fighting Idea

After doing more play testing I will now say that two weapon fighting needs to either be a result of expertise dice or a main attack and an off-hand attack, but not both.

    D&D 5E (2014) Stealth, Spot, and Listen

It plays better as a combined skill. Spot and listen together. I would even say that combining Search with those two skills would make the skill more attractive.

    D&D 5E (2014) I hate expertise dice as a universal mechanic.

I'll reserve my judgement until we've had a chance to play with the expertise dice some more. Right now, I love the idea of the fighter being able to Protect. I think Clerics should also have this ability as they are trying to heal the party anyway. I absolutely love the fact that every...

    D&D 5E (2014) Making the Wizard's Minor Illusion Meaningful

How many times per encounter/day should I allow this, Chris?

    D&D 5E (2014) Make Cleric Healing a Minor Action

I didn't! I see. So since healing spell/prayers are words of power, I can allow an attack with a weapon. But I can't allow Lance of Faith?

    D&D 5E (2014) Making the Wizard's Minor Illusion Meaningful

I was bored with the wizard's minor illusion spell so I made it really powerful. The wizard as his chosen reaction can cast minor illusion on a foe that is attacking him. If the foe fails its wisdom roll versus the wizard's spell DC of 15, then the attacker wastes an attack on an illusionary...

    D&D 5E (2014) Make Cleric Healing a Minor Action

As in, the Cleric can heal either as a reaction out of turn or as part of the cleric's turn. Then during the turn, the cleric can assault. During the play-test, all the Cleric is doing is running around healing people and not helping to fight. It's not fun and the player isn't having fun. The...

    D&D 5E (2014) I hate expertise dice as a universal mechanic.

Funny how I get mostly criticism for wanting multiple actions per round when experience dice is mostly multiple actions per round. I like experience dice but I don't understand it's inclusion when it was the original intent of the designers to speed up the game by allowing only 1 action per...

    D&D 5E (2014) Expertise Dice and Multi-Classing

We've got to start with a concept of multiclassing. This is what I'm thinking. The game has 4 types of characters. The fighter character invests in his strength and as a result, gets the highest hit dice, the heaviest armor, and the biggest weapons doing the most damage. The wizard character...

D&D 5E (2014) A Flat Math Formula for Every Roll

I suppose I'll play along for now. Just remember though. The game has added many new elements. Weapon Attack Magic Attack Save Bonus Experience Dice

D&D 5E (2014) A Flat Math Formula for Every Roll

We can also see that the flat math fails with a 20th level fighter with a 20 strength. +5 ability bonus +10 weapon attack bonus at 20th level according to the play test. Bonuses were supposed to max under +10. If we're no longer going to stick to that I would say that a +1 every 3 levels and a...

D&D 5E (2014) A Flat Math Formula for Every Roll

It is a bit different. I'd like the bonuses from natural ability rolls and level progression to be equal. I'm not liking magic attack bonuses.

D&D 5E (2014) A Flat Math Formula for Every Roll

I agree with you. It's a boring progression. And so is the flat math in this game.

D&D 5E (2014) A Flat Math Formula for Every Roll

5th edition is saying that natural abilities are more important in to hit when it grants +1 about every 4 levels to a fighter. Also, the hit dice are different between a 1st level and 30th level being.

    D&D 5E (2014) Levels Above 10?

See my flat math post when taken to level 30. I'm making a point about flat math. If the idea is to have no bonus above +10, then the most powerful creature in the game is only +10 bonus more than the weakest creature in the game with a +0 bonus.

D&D 5E (2014) A Flat Math Formula for Every Roll

Nope. Now there will be only one main attack and off-hand attack allowed.

D&D 5E (2014) A Flat Math Formula for Every Roll

Let's say a perfect god in the game is 30th level with a strength of 30. Add the two to get 60 and divide by 10. Add the result to the strength ability modifier. This gives the god a strength modifier of +6. Then we allow magic weapons up to +3. So the god would have a maximum potential bonus...
