    favorite prestige classes?

I don't know why, but I really like the Fiend Slayer by Monte. It was in an issue of Dragon a little over a year ago. Interesting class and a nice combo of arcane spell-casting and old fashioned butt-kicking. Plus, it had wear fiend skin before the acolyte of the skin in T&B.

    Homebrew Worlds and Races

I'm building a wilderness campaign now (last campaign was city-based, so this is a change of pace). Here's what I'm writing up for my players as far as native races of the land. Most of these will be unavailable as PC's, but it's inline with what kind of tweaks I tend to make with races...

[Chainmail] Secrets of Chainmail Revealed (attn Pramas or Nikchik)

A little bump because I'm curious and the people in the know may not have been on the boards when this was on page 1.

Excersise in AC (Help the Two-Handed Fighter)

I think the animated shield is your best bet, but why waste the time with a buckler? A large shield would give you a better AC. The other thing to do is harrass your cleric to cast magic vestment on you. Maybe pick up a partially charged wand and have him use it on you.

[Chainmail] Secrets of Chainmail Revealed (attn Pramas or Nikchik)

Now that chainmail has been canceled, any chance we could hear the story of where you intended it to go? There were rumors about a yuan-ti faction, were they true? What were some cool figures that were in the pipe, but never saw light of day?

D&D: Is this the Golden Age?

IIRC, there were a lot of factors, but the one that sticks in my mind is a really ugly divorce in which EGG lost a significant chunk of TSR to his Ex. She aligned with two other major shareholders and forced him out. But that's really a whole nother thread. ;) I agree completely with what...

    How "out" are you?

My only hang-up is that I won't every say that I 'role-play'. The phrase has too many other connotations (sexual role-playing, learning to play nice role-playing, things like that) that I don't like. I say that I am a gamer, and that I game.

    Ideal Party Make-up.

    1. Tank: Your meat sack front line fighter. Fighter, Paladin, or possibly Barbarian. 2. Artillery: Straight classed arcane caster, either Wizard or Sorcerer will do fine. The former gives you flexibility, but the later gives more raw firepower. 3. Medic: Straight classed Cleric. Druids...

    Bit villains hijack the campaign!

Your post nearly made me laugh. That's exactly what my players do. The funny thing is that they'll put the most random, low-key people on 'the List' just for being rude to them. At one point the question was not who in the campaign was on the list, but who wasn't.

    En World

While I suppose it's possible that one person gave Eric the bulk of the info he credited to Anonymous, I'm pretty sure that it was just a name he used to hide someone's identity, and thus Anonymous was never just one specific person. Of course, Eric is probably the best person to answer that...

Why is Dragonlance Your Least Favorite Setting?

I see... So you're telling me that if you were in a class, and the teacher/prof gave you an assignment to do an analysis of a 'work of literature' you'd turn a 12 page paper on the Dragon Lance series? If you do ever do such a thing, please post back with the grade you get and a description of...

D&D: Is this the Golden Age?

I agree w/Doctor Midnight, the golden age of D&D was the early 80's. I'd call this the silver age.

Why is Dragonlance Your Least Favorite Setting?

[/B] Fair enough. You're right that it was really more the advent of banking that pulled the gov't into it. When you started trading paper that represented X pounds of silver, with the understanding that if you went to the bank issuing it, you could actually get silver for your worthless...

[OT] A Call for the Politically Minded

Ick. Not appropriate discussion topic. We're a politics free environment, and it's best that it stay that way.

how do you use your doppelgangers?

I don't tell my player he's been replaced. No one suspects anything that way. :D It's a bit tough if you want them to do specific things, but if you've got a good player, you can give him some heavy hints to do what you want. So, let's say the party is planning on entering a room. The DG...

Why is Dragonlance Your Least Favorite Setting?

Yeah, but steel and iron bars were used to pay in the form of exchange, not as an acutal currency. Look at currencies throughout history. What are they made from? Gold, silver, copper, bronze-metals that are soft and easy to form so that you can stamp someone's name on it (which is where the...

The irony is that I set up the poll, and I would've chosen all of the above if I had remembered to put it in. :D

Vampire Level Draining - No Save, Right?

Why? Don't you have to hit with a 'slam' style attack to do the energy drain? Or would every unarmed attack from a monk do it? It's a halfling sorcerer for plot reasons actually. It just worked out well that his high charisma feeds into the vampire's powers. And his jump from d4 HD to d12...

Vampire Level Draining - No Save, Right?

Just want someone to confirm for me that there is no save for a vampire's level draining ability. I've read the vampire description and section on level draining in the DMG, and didn't see anything in either section indicating that there is one. However, I don't want tomorrow's game to bog...
