Welcome to my spambox, Pussycats G. Operates!

I keep a list of the spam names I've gotten, and it looks like I'll need to check the spam folder again, as it's been a while. Toffees S Lessened is the only weird spam name I've gotten so far.

    Guilty Pleasure Movie

I'll have to throw my vote in for ID4 too. Will Smith kicked much ass in that movie. TMNT is also an honorable mention. I just love those little green dudes and their little rat sensei. It mixes a good bit of action, humor, and drama in a nice little package. I also have to throw in a vote for...

Greatest Insult to a D&D PLAYER (OOC)

What the other guys said. Have you ever heard of or dealt with someone who was so into a fandom (anime, sci-fi, gaming, etc) that it's pretty much completely taken over his or her life? Someone whose love for the particular show, book, or game in question has reached the level of unhealthy...

Greatest Insult to a D&D PLAYER (OOC)

It's been thirty-one posts in and nobody's popped in with this perennial favorite: "Get a life." I mean, it's probably the worst thing you could say to a gamer short of "Your dice suck."

Unglamorous medieval professions (and a free playtest)

And it gets even worse: in Feudal Japan, tanners were known as eta. Among the caste system of the time, they were considered the lowest of the low of the hinin (non-person) caste -- in fact, they weren't even considered part of the caste system at all due to the sheer nastiness of what they had...

Where do fiends come from? (Cosmology)

I posted something similar to this kind of thing on the D&D boards, because I always found it odd that you had angels and demons from Judeo-Christian mythology coexisting side-by-side with a polytheistic pantheon without a solid explanation as to where the angels and demons came from in the...

    One-line heroes

A mysterious ranger, gifted to his parents by the fey long ago, is seeking the realm of Faerie where he was born so that he can discover his true heritage and purpose.

Are we weasels or nice people?

Last I heard, those are mainly reserved for stalkers, abusive S.O.s and other people who pose a direct threat to your personal safety. It would take a very special kind of jerkery at the table to warrant taking out a restraining order on someone's ass. And I'm talking Creepiest Gamer caliber...

    I can't find a Silent Wail!!!

Another option: In Open, display threads by rating, going back to the beginning. The Silent Wail's post is among the ones with five to four stars. For a troll post...well...wailing about D20, the mileage that the community got off it was hilarious as all hell.

    DMG II -- In my hands . . .

Finally got my hands on the DMG II yesterday, and it was well worth the forty bucks I forked over for it. My favorite bits from the book were: 1. The entire first chapter, which goes into detail on all the stuff that a DM has to deal with on a regular basis. I suspect that this was Robin...

    Teen killed for his iPod

And by "back in the day," you mean the early to mid-90s, right? That was the part of that decade that I absolutely hated. The youth gangs of the day were notorious for that kind of crap. It's that whole vanity being placed over human life thing that leaves a distinctively bad taste in my mouth.

What traits would your Ultimate Space Opera setting have?

Space battles with starfighters are definitely a must. They were my biggest draw into the Star Wars saga when I was a kid, even more so than Jedi and lightsabers, and the feeling of going one-on-one with an enemy ace in a thrilling dogfight just cannot be matched.

    Any homemade D&D/fantasy movies?

So basically, you're looking for a low-budget fantasy short. All I can say is that you'll be fairly hard pressed to find one, especially one with the kinds of flashy magic and monsters that populate your typical fantasy world. And even if a low-budget fantasy filmmaker were to take out the...

Can you really use a two-handed melee weapon in mounted combat?

The best picture I can form in my head is the warrior making deadly passing strokes from the side of his mount against other horsemen (or people on foot -- off with your head!), or making overhead strikes with your torso twisted diagonally toward your target. Other than that, I got nothin'. :D

    Favorite "New" Monsters

The Roach Thralls from D20 Modern's Urban Arcana creep me out in a serious way. Basically, these things are bodysnatchers that eat people alive from the inside and wear them as a skin to blend into human society, and the way they get their eggs inside you so that their babies can eat you alive...

    New WotC Art Galleries (merged)

WHOA! This is WAY better than the pic in the Monster Manual! Several hundred tons of pure friggin' MEAN, whose bad side you DEFINITELY don't want to get on. If ever there was a D&D equivalent of a Kaiju monster, this thing would be it.

An Idea Crazy Enough to Work

I have. The Ritual Warrior is a whole different animal than what Galethorn is talking about. As the text in the Combat Rites section of the book states, the things that a Ritual Warrior (or an Oathsworn or Warmain at high levels) can do aren't magical in nature at all.

Where are all the fantasy movies?

IMO, if the people in Hollywood are looking to make a King Conan movie, they should seriously consider an adaptation of one of the Howard stories about that phase in Conan's life -- preferably, The Scarlet Citadel or The Hour of the Dragon. I've only read The Scarlet Citadel so far, and it is...
