Favorite "New" Monsters

I just bought a few of the racial files from Primal Urge and there are a few that are definately cool-

The euqsam is a parasitic plant that is reminecent of the face hugger (but does stay in that form). They are definately going to be used in a Gamma World setting of mine.

The ryonth is another parasite, but looks like a humanoid frog. Unlike the euqsam, which needs a host to survive, the ryonth uses a host to increase its physical might. With racial levels, it can also feed on the host.

The d'ah rien are peaceful psions that spread knowledge.

The alratheen are created by an intelligent plane for several uses- a police force, scouts, and just randomly.

The cyndarim are jellyfish/cuttlefish/humanoid hybrids that view others as food. I am going to drop the humanoid part and make them compeditors to the ceptu of Oathbound.

The rin are turtle like people who are paranoid of other races, always fearful of enslavement.

And the thozeran are living coral.

Annihilator - the cute rust monster that disintegrates instead of rusts from Underdark.

Blackstone Gigant - previously mentioned but worth re-mentioning. :)

Maug - half-man, half-dog (just kidding)... sentient planar mercenary constructs. WAR's illustration is awesome.

The Roach Thralls from D20 Modern's Urban Arcana creep me out in a serious way.

Basically, these things are bodysnatchers that eat people alive from the inside and wear them as a skin to blend into human society, and the way they get their eggs inside you so that their babies can eat you alive from the inside and take over your body is to have sex with you in their human skin. And the moment when they shed their human skin to reveal the monster within is simply horrific as hell.

Basically, its fear of icky stuff combined with the Victorian fear of sex with a good layer of paranoid horror as the icing on the cake. They would make a very good addition to a D&D game, IMHO.

Well gawd damn, that's a must-user.

Sounds like a pretty cool monster, but I absolutley hate the name - I wish people would try to be a bit more creative than just spelling a name or word backwards.

Still, I suppose "euqsam" ("masque") is better than "ecaf regguh" ("face hugger"), so maybe I should just count my blessings. :)

I like spriggans - are they new?

Nope, they were in the 1e MM II. They are cool though -- used them recently myself.

I like loads of the new monsters. Of the ones I've actually used, I'll pick chuuls, kelvezu demons <MM II>, redcaps <MM III> and dreggs <Monsternomicon>.

Cheers

*scrolls through MMII .pdf*

Sure enough - there they are.

This is how I think gnomes should be played, like evil little bastards...

I like redcaps, too.

Barring that, I think I might just redo the Ravenloft red widows to not be shapechangers, but simply to be red spiders in woman suits instead. I don't need two such monsters, but damn, that is nasty.
