    Plot ideas, pick your favorite.

Hey everyone. I know this isn't a "Is this Fair?" thread, but I've got a poll anyway. I want to create a game where my players will be somewhat out of their element... 1. Toy Soldiers. The players' souls were captured by an evil wizard. They wake up as animated children's toys. (Wooden duck...

Remind me again why I should like the PHB II?

Let's start with the new classes: Beguiler: For everyone who ever wanted to play Morgan Le Fay, The Beguiler is a specialized caster that makes for a perfect BBEG. Their abilities off the battlefield are almost as potent as their abilities in combat. You could call it a bard with a full...

    Unsatisfactory BBEG Fight?

As a Player, I'd be shocked. and then thrilled. Of course, you NEVER go into the BBEG's room at anything less than peak condition, so i could see it happening. as a DM... I'd be shocked... then pull out my emergency Plan B. And declare. "As you watch in horror, the Big Bad's body recuperates...

    A Puzzle

E-R-T-M-E-R-T? Dear gods. it sounds like the king's approach to a particularly difficult bowel movement. Which, you know, could be his last words and all... Yeah, sandbags. And barrels of Alchemist's fire.

Monopoly d20 -- multiclass my thimble?

Because Iron / Thimble multiclass is the only way to get the necessary prerequisites for the Guy on a Horse prestige class, and it's two-thirds of the necessary advancement for the Race Car prestige. (He'd still need at least a level of Terrier to get there though)

Is this fair? -- your personal opinion

(sigh) Okay, tell you what. Let's put this in a different context. Suppose that all the players aforementioned were only 1st level. The rogue might only have +4 to detect traps at that level. Subsequently, because we don't know how the rogue rolled, we can argue that the GM may have been...

    A Puzzle

Right... last line. gods i despise puzzles, this is why my characters always have Profession (Puzzle Logician)... Wait, is that spelling error intentional? Well, this is why i carry a bunch of 30 lb. sandbags in my bag of holding, specifically for Jumping puzzles. Since trap designers have to...

    OoTS #340 is up!

What level are they anyway? I mean, they have sufficient wealth for the DM to justify giving them +5 weapons, which puts them at least at 11th level, but most of their spells are 3rd level (or thereabouts) but we know that V should be able to cast "Teleport", which puts them over 10th level...

Is this fair? - confessions of a killer DM

Okay, Just running this encounter through a very simple encounter calculator indicates that it was a CR 6 encounter. (eight CR 1 monsters, the two kobolds are each 1/6th, though i don't know how one being a black kobold affects it's CR.) Your party is level 1. Inputting these factors, yields...

Is this fair? -- your personal opinion

Actually, according to the Trap designing sourcebook, A Reflex save of 30+ is only +2 to the base CR of the trap. Since the DMG only contains traps up to CR 10, it's entirely possible that the trap could have been higher than CR 10

Sacred Cow Death Watch: Do you use material components?

I kind of hand wave it.. See, in my games, all spell casters have a pouch of spell ingredients which (presumably) contains sufficient material to keep their magic working. If the pouch gets stolen (which has happened) spells with Material components cannot be cast until they either resupply...

Is this fair? -- your personal opinion

I fail to see the need for the second thread. Personally, i believe it seems extremely unfair for the monk, but I'd still love to hear the rationale behind the scenario. Other.

Is this fair? -- predict the general opinion

I realized that what the OP was asking was "How do you think most people will respond to this scenario"... but i believe that it is important to be able to discuss how this happens. Incedentaly, if you wanted this to be properly done: the poll options should have been: "(I think this was) fair...

Is this fair? -- predict the general opinion

*Makes note* Buy... more... rope... I voted "Other". The "failed" saving throw seemed blatantly unfair (if the monk couldn't make that save, who could?) but there must have been some REASON for this trap. Ask the GM, and give us their explanation behind it. If the GM refuses to tell you, it...

Help me freak out my players!

Terrifying things? -A burned out room, this one room (small, barely as big as a prison cell), and everything in it, has been completely destroyed long ago by a fire . When the players open the door, a cloud of ash and smoke rolls out, then dissipates. The next time the player who opened the...

    Unusual Weres

Werebirds are never thought of. A Wereraven rogue would own the night. A werehummingbird sorcerer would, posibly drive the universe insane. Werefrogs. Just because. Weresquirrels, the bane of birdfeeders... Werepigeons... no statue is safe...

    Artsy GMs

No, no it wasn't. It was aggravating because we KNEW that they were identical, and one was "evil" and one was "good", and there was no way to tell them apart... because they both acted exactly the same way and had exactly the same freaking characteristics, they weren't even left / right handed...

    Confessions of a Niche Gamer

Heh, and here I'm worried that I'm under cultured as gamers go! My FLGS has... (lemmie think) 9 shelves devoted to RPG's. On each shelf is only one copy of any given book. All books are side-by-side like you'd find in a reference library with limited space. The new releases have their own...

    Artsy GMs

Lucky. The artist GM I had was.. how to say this... a fangirl of Yaoi? Every one of her NPC's was an ultra-bishonen. Oh, and she was a writer, so there was a metaplot we couldn't stop. She also got her "balance" ideas from the old world of darkness... our patron was an immortal sorceress...

Why do Dwarves drink Whiskey or Ale?

Y'know, I didn't know eighter, so i went down to my local Dwarf tavern... and i did the logical thing: I asked. "If yer wife had a beard thicker than ye did, ye'd drink too!" -Emasculation? perhaps. Though it could equally be sarcasm. "Look, Aye jes spent twelve hours bashin' rocks out of...
