    D&D 5E (2014) 5E low level monster skill checks

The solution I'm considering is something along the lines of giving monsters relevant proficiency bonus and some sort of extra dice roll. The dice depending on the parties level.

    D&D 5E (2014) 5E low level monster skill checks

I havn't any examples where I recorded the all the info. I though I'd post and see if other people were having the same issues. The impression I was getting was that the monsters are getting little or no bonus, while the party getting +10 or so on checks. And what ever I roll, the PC will win.

    D&D 5E (2014) 5E low level monster skill checks

When I'm using low level monster against higher level PCs. I find that there skill checks, with things like stealth , perception insight etc, is terrible compared to the PCs. The monsters can still be a challenge combat wise. But any sort of skill check vs the party they just seem to fail. Any...

ZEITGEIST: The Gears of Revolution - Act One: The Investigation Begins

5 out of 5 rating for ZEITGEIST: The Gears of Revolution - Act One: The Investigation Begins Overall Zeitgeist is an excellent product. The setting, the NPC, the layout, the plot, I could go on , its all excellent. If you like investigation style adventures, Gears of Revolution has some of the...

D&D 5E (2014) Which kind of D&D content, created and published on Patreon, are you most likely to support?

I voted Other. Monsters. I don't really need more. Magic Items. There is already more than I need out there. Spells. I don't really need more. Subclasses. No NPC. No Adventures. Maybe. Other. Encounters would be something I'm interested in.

How Many Actual Sessions Do Your Campaigns Last?

Shorter campaigns 10 to 15 sessions (40 hours) Longer campaigns over 100 sessions (350 hours) there is usually some fatigue by then. And we do something else.

How long does it take to generally take to set a campaign up

I spent maybe 4 to 6 hours on my last campaign. Have a look at sly flourish's lazy DM. He has a lot of good advice for DM like us.

    Adventure Suggestion Help

I ran Skullcrackers(road to revolution) a few years back and liked it.Not great but good, nothing much to dislike about it. I wouldnt call it a investigation adventure. But if your party struggles with that I wouldn't recommend it. Generally I found 0one adventures solid to good. 4th level...

    Combating fights to the death

I'd agree with this. Part of the issue is trust. The players have to trust you. They have to feel that if they surrender, or get captured you won't just kill or do worse to their characters. So be open and honest with them. And have the monsters surrender and run away at times. Also look out...

    What's your favorite encounter?

As a DM my favorite encounter is the finale of the Zeitgeist dispora. Not becasue of anything special in the encounter, just how the whole campaign built up to that point. As a player my favorite is a Teleport trap in Borshaks lair(adventure from the 70's) where you get teleported into a 15'...

Encouraging interactions in new adventuring parties

I havn't done a great deal of this. But when I have successfully it involved interaction with NPCs. Either someone asking the PC about something in his background, or recognizing an PC etc. To use your example. An NPC might meet the party and say" arn't you the hero who saved the kids" or " You...

Rules, too much or too little? YOU DECIDE!

I vote neither! I find faster rules are often too simply. While complex rules require everyone to be knowledgeable, which rarely happens. So I prefer something in between. Something easy but not fast, detailed but not complex.

High Level Play - Your Experience

As a player I enjoyed the high level stuff we did with 1E, and some of the 3E , upto to about 15th level. As a DM I didn't like DMing the high level 1E and 3E stuff. With 4E I've done two campaigns upto 30th, both of which I enjoyed. Havn't done any 5E high level stuff yet. In my experience...

Introducing Complications Without Forcing Players to Play the "Mother May I?" Game

I had to do something similar a couple of years ago. The player in question kept alot of his actions , to inbetween game stuff. So it didn't impact the game. The player even did a whole power point presentation. Anyhow it changed when he got a little ambitious. And as a consequence, I had his...
