What monsters do you want to see in Dragon magazine?

you're a bit late for the vote. ;) and sorry to say, but none of those creatures made the final cut... posted the obliviax earlier today. :)

see, now that's more like it - stick with the concepts, but improve on them without changing the creature's fundamental nature. :) i'll wait for some input from shade-o-rama before adding on to the maedar. as for the feat, well we were working from (Scott's?) 3.0 conversion in the Overhaul...

    Archer Bush

actually, that's the exact set-up i was thinking of, so it must be right. ;)

Well, it is what it is. ;) the concept is, yes, the male version of the medusa. They do have an entirely different set of powers, though, so they are basically totally different creatures. while I don't want to take it too far from the original source material (one of my biggest 3E pet...

B3 states that they grow new thorns in one turn (10 rounds?), though the later three sources all say only 3 volleys per day. We can use either or both. See the assassin vine for sensory possibilities. We can make it deaf, too, leaving tremorsense as its only sense.

You'll notice that the B3 version is statted somewhat differently than the version(s) used by the Creature Catalog books, which are likewise somewhat different from the 2E Monstrous Compendium. Therefore, we have a range to pick from for certain aspects, but should consider all relevant sources...

    Converting monsters from Dungeon Magazine

I'll keep the greater golem at 30 feet though. ;) That might be a bit too strong, though. it might be interesting to give it protection from arrows instead. ;) How's that: Attack: Slam +16 melee (2d10+12 plus energy drain) or greatsword +16 melee (2d6+12/19-20 plus energy drain) Full...

indeed! in 1E & 2E, only the flesh golem had 2 slams per round, while the others had 1. i guess the idea was that the others would be too big and slow to attack twice? well now, given that all the standard golems attack twice per round in 3.5, i will adjust the wood golem accordingly.

OK, given those CRs, what should be the target AC for constructs of these HD?

no idea. probably a design choice made by the original author, i guess.

Converting monsters from First Edition modules

eh? Helplessness (Ex): A maschin-i-bozorg that is flipped over becomes helpless. While flipped over, a bozorg cannot move, and loses its natural armor bonus. The bozorg is stuck until an ally flips it back over. A bozorg can be flipped with a successful trip attack, or (with a successful...

Converting monsters from First Edition modules

so if you trip them, they're flipped over? :) did they give the flumph a vulnerability like that when it appeared in Dungeon mag last year?

should we give it a flipping-over vulnerability?

save DC for the debris? good ol' standard DC 15? :)

Converting monsters from First Edition modules

Actually, my bad. since the dart is a weapon featured in the PHB (no, really!) we don't need to include all of that info. I'll let the attack line speak to how many can be fired as a full-attack. I want to put how the gas affects targets back the way it was in RoF. Stun Dart (Ex): A bozorg...
