Probably just because the treant has it listed. I'd definitely vote for giving it to both versions now, since both treants and the recent wood golems in Dragons have it.

Yeah, I believe they didn't gain 2 attacks until 3E. However, a cursory glance at random golems indicates that most (if not all) 2-armed golems have 2 slam attacks.

in 1E & 2E, only the flesh golem had 2 slams per round, while the others had 1. i guess the idea was that the others would be too big and slow to attack twice? well now, given that all the standard golems attack twice per round in 3.5, i will adjust the wood golem accordingly.
 


Most of the golems in the 3.5 Monster Manuals have DR/adamantine, but a few don't (mostly those tied to other planes.)

I think slashing is more flavourful, personally -- would adamantine *and* slashing be too powerful?
