    D&D 4E Reinvisioning the Halfling for 4E

Now, now. Don't be jealous. I'm sure when they release the epic 3 part movies, "David the Gnome" we will get the little fellahs back into the PHB1 for 5E

    D&D 4E Reinvisioning the Halfling for 4E

While I haven't seen the Spellbinder games, the flavor is exactly what WotC has already implemented for halflings in 4E. They are that way in Races & Classes. The main thing I'm hoping to change is the art direction. Wizo's gave them "bayou halfling" fluff, but a "plain old human" look. I...

    D&D 4E Reinvisioning the Halfling for 4E

I like these suggestions! The mini-pirate motif is a good match to the swamp rat motif. Both would blend well and it would open up more options for variations in dress. Pirates are popular these days. I'm sure lots of folks would latch onto that! :D

    D&D 4E Reinvisioning the Halfling for 4E

That's part of my issue. The implimentation of the hair has been inconsistent at best in the artwork thus far. To quote part of Races & Classes conserning halflings: "Course hair, worn loose." "Halfling hair coils naturally"

    D&D 4E Reinvisioning the Halfling for 4E

While this is a neat idea, it is widely divergent from what WotC is doing with halflings in 4E. I would like to use this thread to find ways to use the direction WotC is already taking, but make it more distinctive and exciting. There is still time for WotC to fix the art/gear/distinctive...

    D&D 4E Reinvisioning the Halfling for 4E

In 3E, Halflings were distinctly different in their art. The new art does not represent them well at all as a seperate race. Sure, they had an option to be river folk before, but they were really presented as gypsies in 3E. Any artwork of a halfling either looked like a leather wrapped...

    D&D 4E Reinvisioning the Halfling for 4E

I welcome disagreement, critiques, and further suggestions on how to make the Halflings distinct and exciting. If you are going to offer further suggestions on improvement, I would ask that you stay within the design that Wizards has laid out for 4E: Halflings are river and swamp dwellers...

    D&D 4E Reinvisioning the Halfling for 4E

New Art Direction - Same 4E Design - Halflings all have kinky hair now. Show it off! Halflings should have wild hairstyles that showcase their new hair instead of quietly hiding it. - Swamp Rats! This is a great design and can look awesome. Make use of it! Inspiration can be drawn from the...

    D&D 4E Reinvisioning the Halfling for 4E

The new design on the Halfling seems to have been met with a resounding “meh”. I’ve not heard too much complaining about the changes, but we’ve not seen much excitement either. Apathy has set in. First off, I like the new ‘swamp rat’ design on the Halfling. The failing IMO is the artwork. From...

    New Quickling

Here's an image from the Sojourn comic showing what the Quickling looked like in 1E

    New Quickling

There is a quickling character in the novel Sojorn about Drizzt. He was more annoying than anything so I'm glad about the switch in portrayal.

    New Quickling

Nah! :D I wanted the feel that it is about to step out in another direction. Lightning fast turns and all that. I appreciate the critiques though! Always welcome.

What do you think about The Rouse's shirt?

I originally meant the monster, but maybe EVERYONE should wear the shirt! Then, when that PHB cover is put into the crystal ball on the cover of the DMG, the dragon can have a thought bubble with witty comments about "The Rouse"

Thanks for the kudos everyone. I appreciate :D

    New Quickling

That is a very nice and creepy pic. Actually, I would have been happy if they had designed Quicklings like that. The only problem I see with that design is that it is too similar to a pixie. Casual gamers are going to have a hard time distinguishing between one type of tiny winged elf from...

    New Quickling

Nice pic Klaus! Personally I'm glad they strayed away from that design. The new design doesn't evoke speed very much to me, but it is far more horrifying. I can just imagine one of the new quicklings hiding in a bush. Regdar looks down and sees a pair of large white eyes peering at him through...

    New Quickling

In the original image, the shoulder muscles are disproportionately large. I was trying to stick with that design. Also, the chest is very wasted. The original pic of the Quickling was posted on another forum so I'm going to link to that.

What do you think about The Rouse's shirt?

Probably after this thread was made, he's been getting ribbed about the shirt from time to time. ;)

    New Quickling

You're right! My version from that angle does look a bit like a goblin. The side view (standing upright and still) in Worlds & Monsters looks nothing like a goblin though. The only problem I have with the original pic is that it looks like the quickling is posing for the shot. I like action...
