My recall is fuzzy, but I was under the impression that Goblinworks (I think that's the name of the company) was run by Dancey and there was some drama between Goblinworks and Paizo when the thing collapsed.

IIRC, PF Online was managed by a different company.

My observation is that Paizo shares news when it's good and is silent when it's not. They have not been silent regarding PF2, so while it may not be as stellar with sales and popularity as PF1 was at it's beginning, PF2 is likely doing just fine.

That the truth is likely somewhere in the middle. :)

What wore you out? (I haven't played much 5E, but while I've heard that people lament the lack of options (compared to 3.x, 4E, and PF1), I haven't heard anyone worn out by it.) What caused you to lose enthusiasm?

No agenda - observation. 2E was bleeding players (or really, had bled players) thus 3E was a welcome refreshing of D&D and players came back. 3.5 was quite popular, but per Ryan Dancey, 4E was made in part due to financial ultimatums at WotC/Hasbro. 4E was also designed to encourage more...

D&D 3, PF1, and D&D5 came about because the players demanded these games. 4E and PF2 came out because the companies that made them demanded better financials (IMO).

Amazing to me that 3.5 is still very much in the picture. Really shows how much a mistake 4E was.

I guess PF2 didn't create the new edition "spike" that happened for a lot of 3PPs when PF1 came out. I know there are a handful of companies creating PF2 PDFs, but has any 3PP created any physical PF2 products yet?

I'm not bringing anything from PF2 into my PF1 game.

The Ptolus product set the standard for me on useful settings. Not only does it tell you all of the cool places adventurers can visit - it details a lot of them (like mini-modules) so the GM doesn't have to do it themselves! I really wish more setting books would have done this, but sadly...

Are you sure about that? Most of their PF titles are also their S&W and 5E titles so this seems rather unlikely.

Well, they are still producing new PF1 material so I don't think this is the case.

That may end up being an interesting (albeit, perhaps unintentional) commentary on PF2's success (or lack thereof). My shelves are full of PF1 material from Frog God Games, but they are not doing PF2. (Of course, I'm not doing PF2 either, so I can relate.)
