D&D Movie/TV What would a good D&D movie be like?

Think about this for a second. You're saying its "natural" to have black people playing drow (which is a completely made-up alien fantasy culture)... because they're black skinned IRL? That is messed up on multiple levels of reality.

D&D Movie/TV What would a good D&D movie be like?

A good movie should honor its source material and genre but there is such a thing as taking yourself too seriously. Chris Nolan's Batman movies were a good example. Man of Steel - too much.

D&D Movie/TV What would a good D&D movie be like?

Lol, I'm struggling to think what you could be referring to. Drow aren't like any racial group on earth. We aren't unlikely to equate them with any culture on earth either. They're matriarchal for a start.

D&D Movie/TV What would a good D&D movie be like?

Probably the first Dragonlance trilogy. Pretty epic stuff. Comedy, tragedy, betrayal, action, mystery, romance. Dragonlance has got it all. Keifer Sutherland as Raistlin, lol.

D&D 5E (2014) What happens if other gaming companies don't have time for WoTc?

Are you kidding? Outsourcing creative work is a huge risk. The risk is if you select the wrong partner, your product is dead in the water before its even launched. That's why the number of go-to partners they work with is very small.

D&D 5E (2014) What happens if other gaming companies don't have time for WoTc?

I assume that these are contracted commitments so it would be pretty unethical to de-prioritise WotCs product to work on their own (even though theoretically the WotC product might be in competition with their own product). I actually wonder if those contracts have a profit-sharing arrangement...

Character Narratives Preview from PRIMEVAL THULE

Our group are basically teenagers. 30 minutes of activity followed by eating cheetos and sleeping in til 12, lol.

    D&D 5E (2014) transporting a large, unwilling creature

Imagine you're a very intelligent, very vain, very powerful and very ancient creature and some trumped-up "hero" is parading your kid around for a bunch of apes to gawk at and prod. What would be your logical response? Heck, imagine you're a creature of the same race (different subrace) and...

Best piece of advice in the thread yet! :D

D&D 5E (2014) Still new to 5e so be gentle

Also, you can't get "double" advantage or disadvantage so if for some reason, you could have advantage granted from multiple sources, you only get it once.

D&D 5E (2014) Ravenloft in 5e: What would you like to see?

Nice one, those books were really top notch. In some instances the vignettes provided a richer backdrop than the official titles did!

D&D 5E (2014) Ravenloft in 5e: What would you like to see?

Hell, I'd like to see the Netbooks "Book of Shadows" etc make a return. Those were of such high quality I printed and professionally bound my copies.

D&D 5E (2014) Beguiling Influence mod: advantage instead of proficiency?

In actual RP-focussed campaigns I've played in, we generally didn't roll this stuff anyway. We RPed it and the DM adjudicated our success (or not) based on our line of reasoning. I once played in a (3e) campaign where the DM was willing to let important social interactions go on the roll of a...

D&D 5E (2014) Correct way to RP this Situation

Anyone who would actually take the "Oath of Vengeance" in the first place has got some misplaced anger issues at best and serious psychopathic tendencies at worst. This is exactly the kind of person who thinks the ends justifies the means. Not that I'm saying the OP should do that since it...

D&D 5E (2014) Correct way to RP this Situation

Lawful neutral peeps follow the letter of the law remember. They're all about law enforcement and due process. Unless the Pally saw the dragonborn committing a crime, she would simply walk past him. If she saw him committing a crime, she'd act within the bounds of the law (so no summary...

D&D 5E (2014) Beguiling Influence mod: advantage instead of proficiency?

Its powerful at low level and crappy at high level. Personally, I'd much rather have proficiency because I can still get advantage from another source. On the other hand, no one will ever choose that ability so it's a moot point.

    D&D 5E (2014) Desperatly Seeking help

This is a good point. I don't know how deadly your campaign is OP but our group started a new 5e campaign 6 months ago and I've been through 3 characters already. My backgrounds started out pretty detailed. Now it's just "Haszlo enjoys the simple things in life. A laugh, a pipe and stabbing bad...

Other locations for intelligence (Fermi Paradox Question)

Maybe. I think we can describe whales and monkeys as having sapient qualities (capable of problem solving) and possibly even sentient qualities (awareness of existence and the ability to plan for the future) but I'm not sure you could say they had sophont qualities (self-awareness...

D&D 5E (2014) The Glass Cannon or the Bag of Hit Points

I dunno if that's purely because of the action economy. The simple fact of focus firing puts a single monster at a huge disadvantage. I mucked around a bit with the Solo formula in 4e from about level 8 onwards, increasing damage and/or hp from fight to fight and I found that a single...
