Mine arrived yesterday here in Pennsylvania. Sorry, I don't have it with me right now.

I know it was a joke but...(complete riding dog)

There are lots of PDFs that tackle familiars. This one has a ton of optional familiars that I thought were pretty good. Anyway, I would love to see an official WotC book that focused on Animals and their uses for adventurers as transport, companions, guards and familiars. A softcover would be...

Is it ok to hate cats and still be a gamer?

Cats are wise and dogs are gullible. Dogs are clearly smarter, but they just get so excited about everything that they look stupid. Cats are smart enough not get excited about things, but when they do, they look stupid. ... (string! Must ... stop ... string from ... wiggling!). Cats assume that...

Is it ok to hate cats and still be a gamer?

I think this demands the creation of a Cat Swarm!

    Sad Day In Syracuse

Syracuse is probably the third or fourth biggest city in New York -- outside of the greater NYC area (which might as well be a state of its own). Albany, Rochester, Buffalo and Syracuse are the biggies.

How to Make D&D Accessible to the Non-Mathematically Inclined?

I have this problem quite a bit. This is mainly in the heat of play because I can certainly add, subtract, multiply and divide. I roll the die and just can not add the two or three numbers. I stammer, studder and stall as my mind tries to crunch the numbers. It's just very difficult...

    Can gnomes talk to rats?

Do they have a burrow speed? If so, yes. If not, no. That being said, that has to be the lamest of all racial abilities. How about switching it to any tiny or smaller animal?

Agile Shield Fighter and Two Weapon Fighting

I read the feat this way: You can use a heavy shield and a one-handed weapon and get a -2 to hit with each. It basically wipes out the crappy damage stat you'd have if you stuck with a light shield. That's it.

Andy Collins: "Most Magic Items in D&D Are Awful"

I'm beginning to think that all "plus" items should just scale up with a character automatically. Just say that they hop up every four levels or so. A one-time buy in, and then focus the rest of the time on getting other more flavorful stuff. Or, alternatively, the PCs could seek to enhance...

    Imbued magic part deux

I like it, Hong. Two questions: 1) For Saves, do you mean that they get a bonus in every Save each time they select it? 2) For Skills, is it +1 each time? Seems a bit low, or am I missing something? Maybe +4 would work. -- Another idea -- maybe an extra casting of a spell or something.

Help me build a trippin' shield-bashing dwarf fighter

MY nice DM is going to let me rework my stats since, with your tutelage, I don't need to invest in 2-W Fighting. I'll be looking to purchase a Dwarven Waraxe soon. STR 17 DEX 12 CON 17 INT 15 WIS 12 CHA 4 (I was doing good until I rolled that one!) My feat plan changes to copy nearly...

Finger Lakes Area as a possible setting?

Funny thing is when I looked at the Wikipedia link above and saw "Skaneateles Lake," I said to myself "I've never even heard of that one before!" I rarely visited northeast quadrant of the Finger Lakes region that much. Guess that explains our different perceptions of the area! :)

Finger Lakes Area as a possible setting?

LightPhoenix is right about the wonky weather. Where I grew up, it was the spring mud. Awful at times. The kind of stuff that sucks your shoes right off when you try to step through it. Fall is indeed amazing up there. Crisp and breezy. The sun warming you inbetween gusts. Clear, blue skies. The...

Finger Lakes Area as a possible setting?

I grew up in the Corning area (just to the South) with grandparents that lived at Seneca Lake. Lot's of neat stuff to add to that sort of area ... Glaciers carved out the lakes, so they might have some Frostburn-style artifacts around. One Lake -- Cayuga, I think -- is overrun with a sort of...

    Why be a Commoner?

Cool ideas, Celebrim. I have been thinking about the NPC classes a lot lately too. My biggest beef is that they can't get better at skills unless they kill a bugbear or something. With that in mind, I came up with these two NPC Class-specific supplemental rules, originally posted at my Web...

Help me build a trippin' shield-bashing dwarf fighter

Me being an idiot All right, I'm back after having to run out for a bit. Anyway, I feel totally idiotic for reading that Flail entry wrong -- and the entry for every other tripping weapon too. -------------- Weapon Choice So, without being limited to the light flail, this opens up things a bit...
