New OGL - what would be acceptable? (+)

I think the ideas you've listed look reasonable. WotC is under no obligation to keep doing an Open License for their IP but they really have to honor the previous licence for prior content for 3PPs to keep any faith with them. For new, OneDnD, content, it's disingenuous for them to call their...

D&D 5E (2024) Should reliable talent be a feature that all characters get with proficiency/expertise?

Yeah, one of my groups really liked it and still uses it but other found it a bit annoying when there were other dice in the mix too (Bardic Inspiration, Guidance, etc). Proficiency dice are actually where we got the idea of expertise as advantage from - we played expertise as advantage on the...

D&D 5E (2024) Should reliable talent be a feature that all characters get with proficiency/expertise?

I prefer dice pools to minimum rolls, so am currently testing out expertise as advantage instead of a further fixed bonus. We do allow advantage to stack though...

    D&D 5E (2024) Spell preparation

I've been thinking about spells known/prepared and what looks to be an aim to increase flexibility in One D&D. Maybe there's a simple solution that preserves some of the differences between casters: You know and/or can prepare a number of additional spells equal to your Intelligence* modifier...

D&D 5E (2024) Hit Dice as an alternate resource?

I hope so. We use "Heroic Effort" but Hit Dice don't recover as fast in our games

D&D 5E (2024) How to bound the bounded accuracy in magic items for 1D&D?

There's also a bit of an issue from the increasing number of abilities and effects that can give bonuses (usually a bonus die) to d20 tests. We've started playtesting reduced stacking: Attack rolls: Only your own “always on” effects stack (e.g. Foe Slayer, Fighting style: archery +2, etc)...

D&D 5E (2024) What do you think of the new rules for preparing spells?

I'd like spellcasting ability, or rather, Intelligence to have a role (should not be a dump stat for any caster!). "When you complete a long rest, you can change a number of your prepared spells equal to your Intelligence modifier."

    D&D 5E (2024) The state of Multiclass-Dips in One D&D

Yeah, good point - the -1 helps with dips that are enhanced by PB scaling but doesn't solve the issue of other class-defining 1st level features being over-accessible to other classes as a 1 level dip. Stalker0's X levels in a class before you can dip into another feels far cleaner in addressing...

    D&D 5E (2024) The state of Multiclass-Dips in One D&D

I was thinking more about the impact on the "PB times per day" or "roll a number of d8 equal to your PB" effects.

    D&D 5E (2024) The state of Multiclass-Dips in One D&D

3 feels like the magic number. 3 levels in a class if you want to keep them when you gain levels in another class...

    D&D 5E (2024) The state of Multiclass-Dips in One D&D

Would a simple balance be a permanent -1 to proficiency bonus when you multi-class into a new class (or subclass)?

    D&D 5E (2024) New UA one D&D play test document Dec 1st.

:) I'm assuming you'd have more luck guiding/inspiring the cleric to ask better, than you would by targeting the god. But I'm now tempted to give it a try next time I have cleric npc - they'd be due some heavy consequences! To be fair, the current "under-level" roll is more about the PC's...

    D&D 5E (2024) Cleric Playtest Summary

I'd be interested to know if people think Divine Spark will create a new 1 level dip issue, given that its effect and number of uses are both proficiency bonus based?

    D&D 5E (2024) New UA one D&D play test document Dec 1st.

Or d20 Test under proficiency bonus. Odds are a little better than the d100 under level but main thing is it allows Inspiration, Guidance etc to interact with it

    D&D 5E (2024) Gain 1 exhaustion when dropping to 0hp?

I like it, we have something similar that uses negative hp and has worked well. But I like that your approach avoids negative hp for those wanting to stay closer to the core rules

    D&D 5E (2024) Gain 1 exhaustion when dropping to 0hp?

strongly agree. With the current 5e design philosophy I think multiple ways to recover exhaustion might well need to be the default option in the same way as hp and HD. Those of us who like a bit of continuity from one session to the next and the ability for players to make meaningful decisions...
