Notes for a New Campaign City, Parsantium

Session #18 Monday night's shenanigans, in which I learned that vine horrors are tough opponents: 24th Maius (contd) The PCs make their way outside where Sreedhar, Gong and Ranjeet are waiting. Sreedhar is keen to examine the carvings inside but is disappointed that the party smashed the...

Notes for a New Campaign City, Parsantium

Suggestions wanted! Hi, After Wrath of the River King (or Scions of Punjar in the second campaign), the PCs will be back in the city, ready to renew their emnity with the Golden Scimitars. Ideally, they will learn of a nefarious plot by the criminal gang and put a stop to it. But what kind of...

Session #17 Temple of the Black Leopard Hi, Here's what happened in Monday night's game. I got to reveal who the BBEG will be, using the carvings in a temple in the ruins of Gopura. Probably one more session in the ruins before moving on to Wrath of the River King. 23rd Maius (contd) Pausing...

"Exploration of the New World" Campaign

The Punjar modules are good but they won't fit into a campaign that's all about exploring a new world. I've never run Eberron but I found Secrets of Xen'drik very useful for stealing ideas and maps from. Stuff from this book ended up in my Pirates of the Caribbean game. I've often thought about...

Session #16 Hi, Here's what happened in this Monday's game. The first encounter was pretty straight forward but the second one worked out tougher than I expected! 23rd Maius (contd) As the PCs get ready to move on, Brave Ella spots a movement in the trees. From out of the woods flies a small...

Sounds like it worked pretty well! I'll definitely use this encounter if I run Scions of Punjar. Cheers Richard

    Suggest an RPG (not D&D)

Thanks! I have Spirit of the Century and will take a look at Savage Worlds. Any other suggestions? Cheers Richard

    Spiritual Weapon

It's that wording and the fact that it gives combat advantage to allies that makes me think it does autofollow. Richard

    Spiritual Weapon

Sorry, another question on this spell. Can the target of the spell move away from it or does it follow him/her? Cheers Richard

    Suggest an RPG (not D&D)

Well, we like fantasy (having played a lot of D&D) but I think it would good to give something different a try or at least play a fantasy game that was very different to D&D. Other RPGs we've enjoyed include Call of Cthulhu and Over the Edge. Thanks for all the suggestions so far! Cheers Richard

    Suggest an RPG (not D&D)

Hi, My wife and I have played several D&D campaigns together over the 20+ years we've been together - just the two of us with me DMing and running one or two NPCs and her playing two characters. Our recent campaign has come to an end and we're looking to start something new. Since we're in...

Notes for a New Campaign City, Parsantium

I've switched the temple from Shiva to Bauhei (the Black Leopard) to better tie in with the story of the founding of Parsantium. Adventure nearly finished! Richard

Notes for a New Campaign City, Parsantium

Forest Ruins of Gopura & next adventure thoughts Hi, I've been finishing off writing the Forest Ruins adventure this afternoon and I think it's looking in pretty good shape. I've added the sadhu (suggested by Loonook) inside the temple of Shiva - he'll point the PCs in the direction of a...

Session 15 Hi, Here's what happened in Monday night's session. Suspicious of the monkey-covered temple, the players went in a different direction so I haven't got to run the monkey chase skill challenge yet :(. It was a fun session nonetheless with the grell and two gricks proving very...

    I've DMed 4e and I PREFER DMing: A poll

Hi, I've run 1e, 2e, 3.x and now 4e and prefer 4e, mostly because the prep time is so much reduced. I don't think I'd go back to 3e D&D again but might run a d20 game like Skull and Bones or Etherscope. Cheers Richard

    We just finished Night Below

Well done! I ran this in 2e but we got bogged down in Book 2 with troll encounters and gave up on it. Pity as we didn't get on to the more interesting stuff later, and we really enjoyed Book 1. Cheers Richard

Session #14 Hi, Here's what happened in our game on Monday night, first session for about a month due to holidays, bank holidays etc. This session took our brave heroes outside the city where they ran into the Hunting Bugbears from Open Design's Wrath of the River King and entered the forest...
