    Remember Judges Guild?

Damn, I wish you could say more! Any links to places where more information might be gleaned?

    My Toronto FLGS robbed!

I always visit HT when I'm back in Toronto. Sorry to hear they were robbed.

    looking for a new system

I really like HARP, but I don't think that it is noticeably 'lighter' or 'faster' than 3e.

Both C&C and True 20 are worth checking out.

    Mearls redesigns the Ogre Mage

Well, at least it isn't the complete disaster that Mearls' "mustn't-hurt-the-players'-feelings" Rust-ish monster was. :\ Personally, I would have preferred a return to the origins of the monster in Japanese folklore. But this version doesn't look too bad.

what would you be in the dungeons and Dragons world?

Str: 20 Dex: 22 Con: 20 Int: 26 Wis: 22 Cha: 26 Divine Rank: 1 Man, I would so rule in a D&D world!

    Left out by rules-lite RPGs?

Here are two options: A.Take C&C, then: 1 Unify the experience charts (give thieves, bards, monks, and assassins a few extra abilities to compensate for their now slower progression). 2 Use the 3e save system (it is easy to plug the Will/Fort/Ref system into C&C). 3 Add some feats (if you...

Good level 1-3 adventure/module for a group of 12 year old noobs?

I own all of these and highly recommend them. DCC29 is especially cool -- 20 short adventures for levels 1-2 (easily modified for slightly higher levels).

Which adventure was your first? Ever itch to play/DM it again?

B1 was my first, with B2 a close second. I ran both in a short C&C campaign last year (spring 2005). They're still both a lot of fun!

    Looking For A Campaign Setting

Umm ... they're referring to Iron Heroes, which is an OGL game from Malhavoc, not Iron Kingdoms from Privateer Press.

    Telling a story vs. railroading

A1's a railroad too. :) (The whole A series, as written, is pretty railroady -- which is understandable, since those modules were written for tournament play. DL1, in contrast, has no such excuse.)

    What does well designed mean?

Thanks for the overview of the 'Lost Abbey'. :) However, I'm quite sure that the 'Mines of Keridav' was published by Gamelords (the company that published 'Thieves Guild' and 'Free City of Haven'). It tied into the 'Demon Pits of Caeldo' [sp?] to form a mini-campaign setting.

    Telling a story vs. railroading

DL 1 as written was definitely a railroad. If you're going to deny that, I 'm don't think that a meaningful conversation on this topic can proceed any further.

To Whom might I submit a Fantasy World Setting?

If you simply want to make your setting available to a broader audience, you could take advantage of dragonsfoot.org. They publish pdf files of modules, rules, campaign settings, etc., for C&C (as well as 1e AD&D, B/X D&D, etc.). I've been quite impressed with the quality of products offered...

    Telling a story vs. railroading

That's the fault of the DM, not the module as written. My point is that modules/adventures as written can be either plot-based or site-based, and generally the former are fare more vulnerable to the possibility of being 'railroads'. Ummm ... I don't think so.

Alternate RPG system recommendations sought for Eberron campaign

I agree, especially if you also use the 'Dungeons & Zombies' book from Eden (just ignore the Zombies!).

    Telling a story vs. railroading

I think a useful distinction is between 'site-based' and 'plot-based' adventures. A 'site-based' adventure describes a location (a city, some wilderness, a dungeon, etc.), and lets the PCs explore it as they see fit. The 'story' emerges from the interaction between the PCs' freely chosen...

    Dungeon Crawl Classics Adventures question

I bought the pdf version (so that I could simply print up the adventures that I wanted to use), and agree that it is a good deal. You can easily scale up the adventures if necessary. I love it. :)

    Looking For A Campaign Setting

Personally, I find an excess of information and material to be a drawback. I prefer a setting that gives me a good overall framework, but lets me fill in the details as I like. This is why I recommended the Wilderlands, and why GG's Known Realms looks interesting. YMMV of course.

What makes a Campaign setting Interesting to You?

It does have the growing threat of the Black Eagle Barony (with Baron Von Hendricks and his advisor, the infamous Bargle), the Iron Ring criminal organisation (especially important if you have the amazing module B10), the political tensions between the conquering Thyatians and the indiginous...
