Use Magic Device -- THE most potent skill?

I got an email reply from the Sage that said Skill Mastery works for all skills, including UMD (I specifically asked about that skill). It might be in one of those Sage Response Archives threads somewhere. FWIW.

    reading attack vs invisible caster

Ah! Here it is... Q:I have a question about the invisibility spell. The description states that if you attack a target, the spell is cancelled. An invisible attacker always receives a bonus to hit a target, unless they have blindsight or something similar. So my question is this; If you are...

    reading attack vs invisible caster

The Sage advice I'm talking about was posted here somewhere, I think by Kreynolds. Perhaps invoking his name will help fill out my lack of details.:D However, if you don't use Sage Advice, the choice is up to you how you rule Invisibility.

    reading attack vs invisible caster

Didn't see it upon looking. I might be thinking of a recent Sage Advice, but I know this has been ruled official somehow. Sorry for the confusion.

    reading attack vs invisible caster

According to the FAQ, an invisible (not improved) rogue can make a full attack action and gain the full benefits of the spell (all may qualify as sneak attacks). Therefore, I would assume that the spell lasts through the entire action. No way it's #1. Dude tries to locate (via listen) the...

The Monk's Hit Dice Should Be a d8! [Rant]

I agree with you up until the last comment. DA is actually quite nice as a freebie. The DC is fixed at 20+magical bonus, so it gets more useful as you level up. Plus monks tend to have good dex bonuses and good saves. At 6th level, you should have maybe a +7 Reflex save? You should be...

I'll just toss in another vote for Shilsen.:D

The Monk's Hit Dice Should Be a d8! [Rant]

I agree with Delgar. A monk is a stun specialist imo. Some lame fighter with the SF feat performing a stun attack and 5 follow-up attacks in the same round while his fellow monk is stuck with just one just does NOT sit right with me...nevermind what the rules say that seems to open this up to...

    Expert Tactician and Sneak Attack

First of all, Expert Tactician does not give you an extra partial action. Read the feat from Song and Silence, not Sword and Fist. It gives you a free MELEE attack...that's it. So now rogues have to take the near worthless feat Combat Reflexes as a prerequisite (still worth it though :D)...

    Can rogues use a kukri?

Sure it does. He said it was a mistake. [b] No one, but he did help to write the book, so his opinion on how to interpret a rule or clarify a confusing one is important to some people. This is not in the DnD FAQ, so it's up to you and your DM to determine the answer. As written, it could...

How to improve DC on a magic item?

Hmmm. I just got a dagger of vampirism (Magic of Faerun), and I'm curious on how/if one could improve the DC? It's fine right now, but I'm looking at higher/epic levels, when the DC will be too low (16) to really be effective. So, as a +1 enhancement, would a +4 DC boost be balanced? Or...

    Two Shields?

Well, since the other thread died out, and da Reaper's over here :D anyway... I'd like to know what the consensus is on using a Dancing Shield (gives a cover bonus) with another shield simultaneously. First of all, Reaper, realize that this item is not in the core rules. Before S&F came out...

Dancing Shields, a Shield and Shield spell

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Dancing Shields, a Shield and Shield spell No, I didn't go back and read the description (probably like all the other posters here) of dancing. I obviously forgot it existed, but since I'm familiar with the weapon enhancement equivalent, I figured I could put my 2 cents...

Dancing Shields, a Shield and Shield spell

Re: Re: Re: Dancing Shields, a Shield and Shield spell Sorry, my bad. Still, though the text is probably only referring to this particular enhancement, I think it is important:"Upon command, an animated shield floats within 2 feet of the wielder, protecting her as if she were using it herself...

    Tumbling for Wizards

Unless you are tripped or grappled that is...or unless your foe had a readied action (a rarity).

Dancing Shields, a Shield and Shield spell

You mean animated, not dancing. Under 'animated', it says only one shield can protect you at a time. So, the answer is you get +11 to AC to half the battle field, and +4 to the other half.

    Feats in Magic Items

The Glove of Balanced Hands from the Magic of Faerun, which grants the TWF feat (OR, if you already have it, the ITWF feat!) costs just over 18000.

    Blinking/See Inisibility=No Sneak Attack?

Thanks to all. I didn't realize SI worked vs. ethereal beings. Still, I tend to agree with your analysis above. IMO, the 'strike as invisible' thing stems from a combination of the actual invisibility AND ethereality (popping in and out randomly). Also, remember that he only hears/smells the...

    Blinking/See Inisibility=No Sneak Attack?

This came up last night. My rogue has his ring of blinking on (activated of course), and the giant casts Invisibility Purge. Now, his miss chance is reduced to 20% obviously...but do I still get sneak attack? The reason I'm not so sure (the obvious answer should be 'NO'), is because blinking...

    Please rate Remain Conscious

Definitely NOT worth it considering the rather cheap Shirt/Vest in S&F that you can buy that does about the same thing. Maybe it's a headband...regardless, too many prerequisites and not enough punch.
