Assuming that the spell effects landings as well as take offs.

Thanks for the clearing 15 feet catch! I would rule likewise. The spell should deal with the consequences of massive deceleration for you.

D&D 5E (2014) Does WotC suck at selling games?

Every time I see Magic and Catan at Target I weep on the inside for the missing DnD box.

    D&D 5E (2014) On FAQs and Twitter

As a recovering and frequently relapsing rules lawyer, I mostly concur. Two quibbles... 1. The tone of the game matters a lot. 4e encouraged rules lawyering more than 5e does. 2. Reducing ambiguity and broken rules reduces the rules lawyering much of the time. Most of my rules lawyering...

    D&D 5E (2014) On FAQs and Twitter

I concur. I also got an idea a fantasy novel I read where the warlock used maggots to syphon magic from the innately magical sorcerer... My warlock will carry around beetles or worms or grubs that he can hex one by one. At the start of the fight, pop one in the mouth, squish, and feel the power...

D&D 5E (2014) Polearm Master vs Great Weapon Master

Sage Advice, a compilation of twitter announcements.

    D&D 5E (2014) Fabricate: a world change spell

All I am saying is variant human hirelings with crossbow expert feat two levels of fighter and repeating hand crossbows. Gotta find a gnome to build the prototype first, but once we move from R&D to production, fabricate will be a Godsend.

    D&D 5E (2014) Is 5e the ultimate D&D system for a true sandbox campaign?

Concur. I am running a sandbox adventure in 5e that I could never have pulled off in either 4e or 3e.

    Brilliant.

D&D 5E (2014) Polearm Master vs Great Weapon Master

Gonna start fighter to reduce the need for adv on Concentration saves. Heavy Armor Mastery is the best spell in the game to start with. It also means that at third level, monsters need to do 13 damage in one blow to take out Armor of Agathys. Else they are taking a min of 20 points of cold damage.

    D&D 5E (2014) Jump

Hmmm... I'd argue that the specific rules of the Jump spell overrule the general rule on pg 182. Normally, you can jump up to 20 ft with a 20 str. Jump multiplies this by three. It does not make any sense if you are still limited to 30 ft.

    D&D 5E (2014) Highest DPR Build Yet?

Is there a DPR by level thread? My vote for best nova, level 7 is Fighter 2/Wizard Evoker 5: wait till mooks engage in Melee and then bathe the battlefield in the warm glow of two fireballs.

    D&D 5E (2014) Highest DPR Build Yet?

Mearls just weighed in clarifying that the Polearm Master attack needs to be a weapon attack from that Polearm.

D&D 5E (2014) Polearm Master vs Great Weapon Master

I forgot to mention that I started with HAM as a human variant. It is the perfect synergy with Armor of Agathys. Just in from Mearls: no Eldritch Blast with Polearm Master. Still, it is awesome to get an extra whack in, especially with Hex on. As for the porcupine warlock, that is the idea...

    D&D 5E (2014) Jump

I agree. Any thoughts on falling damage?

    D&D 5E (2014) Jump

I concur. Jump is a duration of a minute... Clearly not intended to be used for hours. But in combat... Jumping over the front line and smashing into the squishies is just rad. Would you suffer falling damage? A Jump boosted fighter with 20 Str clears 24 ft vertical.

    D&D 5E (2014) Hoplite warrior concept

I think you need to focus on the Shield. Shield master at 1st level. Protection Style. Sentinel at 4th level. That is quite a bit of control. FWIW, I would totally let you use a "spear" with the same stats as a Morningstar if I were your DM. The only benefit is flavor, which is a great benefit...

    D&D 5E (2014) Must-have bard spells?

I'd pick Rope Use at 6th level if you have allies that recharge stuff after a short rest.

    D&D 5E (2014) Jump

Can you jump farther than your movement? Does 20 str + Jump spell = 60 ft. Or are you capped at 30 feet without dashing?

    D&D 5E (2014) Optimal Multiclassing

Blade locks might be the only concept that actually require multiclassing. Maybe that was a consideration when invocations were written based on level as opposed to level in the warlock class. Melee warlocks in 4e were exclusively hybrids, so this might be character they were trying to emulate...
