Welcome back! I've run and played 5e a few times. I just prefer PF. I heard somewhere that basically PF has rules for everything and 5E forces the DM to make up rules for everything. I think that PF is just what I prefer.

I think if you're familiar with any system you can make a character pretty easily. I've played a little 5e but I really liked 3.5e and its more of a progression to Pathfinder.
I recently got HeroLab and its pretty easy to make a character with. But a lot of times I still use the old fashion pen...
I called six downtown hotels a few weeks ago to get a room outside the block. No luck. That's how I got my room for 2013 and 2015. Like others said I wouldn't count on the registration system for getting a hotel downtown.
I think Forgotten realms play is high too because the Adventurers League play is set in the Realms.
I'd rather see a campaign arc focused on Iuz rather than the City of Greyhawk.
I started playing 3.x and just made the switch to Pathfinder in 2008 when it came out. I played a 4E a few times but I didn't care for it. I love the way that Paizo treats its customers and I don't mind all the supplements. I think the Adventure Paths are great.

JEB - I totally agree about 4e being hard to convert. I didn't have any of the \
paid online tools for 4e which you needed to custom make monsters. I feel its
just simplest to wing the 4e to 5e conversions.
