    D&D 5E (2014) Rime of the Frostmaiden Post-Mortem (Spoilers)

Over time, WoTC has made the writing teams for their books larger and larger. This has resulted in really disjointed adventures as it is extremely obvious that different sections of the books are written by different teams. Very often each section foreshadows some big things that is just not...

That is what happens when posting away from my book. Yes, Sword World. I have the 1st rulebook to version 2.0.

    Goblin Slayer TTRPG preorder

I just preordered the Goblin Slayer RPG: https://amzn.to/3nxVgmW I am not going to apologize for the anime (the first episode establishes how bad goblins are via a rape scene - obviously not fully shown as a TV program but no doubt what is happening). Hopefully this thread will not be filled...

D&D 5E (2014) List of All 33 Races in Mordenkainen's Monsters of the Multiverse

I canceled my gift set preorder a few weeks ago when the details of the changes came out. Removing things and not adding anything from the two existing books and the monster book did not seem to have much new. When the monster book is available on its own I will look at it then.

    D&D 5E (2014) How Old-School is 5th Edition? Can it even do Old-School?

I run one weekly game where most of the players are ones I played 1e with 40 years ago. The rules are 5e, but the feeling is like back then. I find the key is the XP system tilted towards killing monsters in 3e, not getting treasure. But the 5e rules make it clear that the intent is overcoming...

TSR TSR3.5 Launches IndieGogo Campaign to "Stop" WotC

WoTC disclaimer says “may include” and then scolds themselves in the cases it is there. Does not say anything else, there is zero pointing at creators or the company other than a general statement.

D&D General Any Realms-Heads Know About The Politics of The Sword Coast?

Waterdeep is an oppressive society run by secret rulers that does not even allow self defense if you are attacked. Lots of moralizing up topside, but many families have business connections in Skullport down below. Quite possible that The Xanathar actually runs the place. The secret ambitions...

Games Workshop notes that space fascism would be bad

As has been pointed out, WH 40K lore is all about why the models fight each other. I don’t find the Imperium to be bad guys in comparison to all the others that are being fought against. All the different factions are racists that hate everyone else and have their entire societies devoted to...

    Paizo Paizo Leadership Team Update

Room sharing on business trips is not illegal in the USA and happens. I have always refused when it is a business trip, but it does happen.

D&D General Joe Manganiello's D&D Campaign Includes a Game of Thrones Creator & Vince Vaughn

Joe came to the last Gary Con that was in person and he came to game as in he was in games most of the time there and all the people that had him at their table pretty much said he was a gamer like everyone else. He does have a t-shirt company that is linked to D&D (death-saves.com), so he is...

Fantasy Grounds also publishes a similar report but they give actual numbers out.

Roll20's Latest Usage Report: D&D Steady, Cthulhu Down!

The Foundry “excuse” of private networks should apply to Fantasy Grounds, but they can report the number of sessions. Only FG publishes actual numbers that can be tracked over time. Roll20 uses percentages and total number of accounts and changes how the percentages are calculated. Foundry does...

Sean K. Reynolds talks RPG salaries, puts his on record.

I am not really sure why people are arguing about one person’s belief about data integrity.

Sean K. Reynolds talks RPG salaries, puts his on record.

Morrus already tried a Twitter poll on what (I answered it). I can look at drivethru and dmsguild and get a quick sense of what creators think is the right price to sell their product. I guess it would not be a terrible task to compile price per page and color vs. B&W and see what it comes out...

Sean K. Reynolds talks RPG salaries, puts his on record.

If it takes UBI to support RPG development (which I hate to discuss more as it is very political), then the industry is in a very sorry state. The core audience being the GM with players only buying the core rules (and a splat book or two) makes it harder as most newer developers write...

Outside the USA there typically is medical and other coverage as well. And the 25% to 1/3 of your take home pay is strained in places like London and NYC and SF and Los Angeles (and Singapore and Tokyo and I assume other major metropolitan centers).

It ties to professionals, not wages in total for all jobs. Often there are claims of RPG design being a profession which is why I brought that in. Lawyers, Doctors, Accountants, Engineers, Bankers. Most have an apprentice system for when school is done at quite low pay and then it gets much...
