    D&D 5E (2014) Help generating interesting pre-gen for LMoP

How about a character, of any class and race, who actually grew up in Phandalin? They would have to be either very young or very old.

D&D General 50 Ways to Find Your Treasure

Consult the architects plan, Stan. Smash holes in the wall, Paul. Break a few heads, Ted. Use your Thieves Tools, Jules.

    D&D 5E (2014) Goodman Games What's coming down the Pike for 5e.

All you need to do to make 5e dangerous is ignore the suggestion that one monster of their CR is an appropriate encounter and instead have them face a number of monsters equal to their party size, each of their CR.

D&D 5E (2014) Charisma to prevent giving out info during interrogation?

Having a mechanical benefit from torture may mean that you get more torture, and that is not something some of us want in our games. It was bad enough reading about Abu Ghraib, there is just no way I want it in my games.

D&D 5E (2024) Fighters if superiority dice was something all fighters get

They could do these the same way that they do Warlock Invocations and just call them Martial Maneuvers. Fighters would have the same number as a Warlock of their level has invocations. Other characters would have a few, maybe none unless they took a feat to gain some. Some Martial Maneuvers...

    You spelled Pelinore wrong.

    D&D 5E (2014) Challenge: Invent a PHB Class List with 6 Classes

Fighter, Rogue, and Warlock is all you really need. Barbarians and Rangers and Monks are Fighters. Artificers are a Rogue (skill-monkeys) sub-class who specialize in weird skills and magic (like the Arcane Trickster). Clerics (God pact), Druids (nature pact), Sorcerers (ancestor pact), and...

D&D General Are the best days of your campaign world ahead or behind?

Behind. I am running in Primeval Thule so the campaign world (Greenland) is doomed to be covered in ice, possibly within the lifetime of longer-lived characters.

D&D General Time Pressure and Adventures

My first reaction is to ask the GM if they mean in game, in reality, or both? A game time limit means more real time planning so that the task may be competed in the game time. A real time limit but no game time limit may mean the opposite.

New Chessex Mat has lines/stains/marks. Is it normal?

Yes, those are completely normal. No, most of them don't have quite that many when they are new.

D&D 5E (2014) Why is animate dead considered inherently evil?

No, but it might help 1st ed AD&D murder-hobos from murdering all their porters for XP's and still having someone to carry out all the copper pieces if they know it will violate their alignment and thus cost them vast chunks of XP's. "Just ask yourself what would Gary Gygax do? Then, do...

D&D 5E (2014) Why is animate dead considered inherently evil?

Because the zombies and skeletons last until destroyed, so they break the action economy over a longer period of time that Summoning spells do. DM's always hate it when the players get to do more stuff, so it must be "inherently evil".

    D&D 5E (2014) Announcement Next Week--What Hints For Upcoming D&D Books?

The sheet cakes spoiled too fast in their internal play-test, so they switched to rules that are printed on foil over chocolate (like a chocolate Santa or Easter Bunny). There's going to be a new "you use the rule, you get to eat the rule" rule that will make the product one use only, like an...

D&D 5E (2014) why has none of the wisdom races caught on?

Why would you need a +2 WIS? A +1 is enough. Just start with a 15 from point buy or standard array, add a +1 and you're good with the 16 you need at L1. The only reason to need a +2 WIS race is if you want to start with a 17 so you can take a half-feat that can provide +1 WIS at L4, so you can...
