D&D General Wildly Diverse "Circus Troupe" Adventuring Parties

You ninja'd me by about 30 seconds. I was also thinking this thread was going to be about using a circus troupe as a framing device. Which would be my advice to the OP. If the table wants to field a party that feels like a circus troupe, you could always lean into it and say they literally are...

    Spoilers Pluribus

I'm still hoping I get to see Vince Gilligan's take on a conventional alien invasion story, since he's so good at turning conventional stories into prestige television. Breaking Bad is a conventional crime drama with a Vince Gilligan twist, and Better Call Saul is a conventional legal drama...

    Spoilers Pluribus

By those standards, it would seem my tastes are boringly conventional. I'm okay with that. I'm also okay with it if Pluribus doesn't end up catering to my tastes. I'd be disappointed, but I wouldn't advocate that it end after one season just because its later seasons don't appeal to me...

    Spoilers Pluribus

That would make for an interesting season of television. But if this is going to be a four-season show, I'd like it more if there was a new story beat every season. I kind of want to see something with District 9 or Alien Nation vibes (not War of the Worlds). Alien colonists show up, but only...

    Spoilers Pluribus

A non-sentient virus propagating through the galaxy using technologically-advanced species as a medium is a cool concept for an episode of Black Mirror. But I'm not sure how one turns "Earth as a metaphor for a virus-infected cell" into a multi-season television show. I really hope Pluribus...

    Spoilers Pluribus

That was my first thought, as well. The virus turns the dominant species on a planet into a bunch of selfless people-pleasers. Also, the infected become pacifists who can't willingly take a life, even to save themselves. Also, they might literally die if someone giving them orders is displeased...

D&D 5E (2024) Circle Casting is gonna break a lot of games

For the record, I like your "swapped grip" version of weapon mastery better than the official version, even if they produce the same end results.

What Bit Of Fan Fic/Edit/Theory Made a Thing Better or even GREAT For You?

Has anyone proposed this yet: When a Time Lord regenerates, they don’t grow a new body, they borrow one from a parallel universe. Their next trip in a TARDIS then transports them to that parallel universe. As a result, each Doctor exists in their own, separate universe with its own, separate...

Your top 5 sci-fi movies (and why)

Should someone start a new thread for all this debate about the value of work? I'm not seeing how it's related to "Your top 5 sci-fi movies (and why)."

DMs Guild [Design Notes] Forgotten Realms Travel Guide: Faerûn, Kara-Tur, and Zakhara

That's certainly fair. I would completely understand if the Travel Guide doesn't fit your budget. Edit to add a targeted sales pitch: To sweeten the pot, I'll note that the Travel Guide portrays Tymanther at the height of its glory. Also, the narrator is the Chronomancer from Netheril, who...

DMs Guild [Design Notes] Forgotten Realms Travel Guide: Faerûn, Kara-Tur, and Zakhara

Thanks for the kind words! And no rush. The travel guide will be there when you want to check it out. Based on that, I'm afraid you'll probably be disappointed in the artwork. Sadly, I was limited to stock art available for bulk purchase. To stay on budget, I could only pay $0.33 per image...

DMs Guild [Design Notes] Forgotten Realms Travel Guide: Faerûn, Kara-Tur, and Zakhara

As of yesterday, the Forgotten Realms Travel Guide is available at the Dungeon Masters Guild. I can’t say this project is entirely finished, since I intend to create an updated version of the PDF. The image compression in the original PDF introduced some annoying pixelation to the embedded...

DMs Guild [Available Now] Forgotten Realms Travel Guide: Faerûn, Kara-Tur, and Zakhara

Since I have no social media presence and no marketing budget, I suppose I can add: This is an EN World exclusive product announcement! :P

D&D 5E (2024) Just Because a location is not on the Atlas of Faerun doesn't mean its gone.

If I remember correctly, it was built in the Adder Swamp by werecrocodile worshippers of Sebek.

DMs Guild [Design Notes] Forgotten Realms Travel Guide: Faerûn, Kara-Tur, and Zakhara

Apparently, I've generated over 68 Gb of material while working on this project. That's more than my ancient computer can handle without moving a bunch of stuff to an external hard drive! Now I just have to cram everything into a reasonably-sized PDF without crashing my computer again.

D&D General Forgotten Realms: Real World Gods Still Present in the Old Empires

Oof! Copy-and-paste isn't a great way to advance a timeline.

DMs Guild [Design Notes] Forgotten Realms Travel Guide: Faerûn, Kara-Tur, and Zakhara

Spell-checking several thousand fantasy names is time consuming. Who knew? :p Thankfully, I'm still on track to drop the Travel Guide when WotC's newest Forgotten Realms books go live for everyone in a little over a week. That's all I've got for now. Back to the grind.
