I'm running an on-again-off-again Eberron game that will just... die the moment I get my hands on the 4e rules :) Our regular DM is not overly enthusiastic about 4e (ha says we haven't even playtested 3e yet :\ ), and we don't really know what will happen to his epic-at-1st-level FR campaign...

Perhaps implements are tied to the power source rather than the class? So all arcanists might use rods, staves, and wands, all divine characters would go for holy symbols and whatever else clerics use, and so on. Regards.

My guess -- bullete and illithid. The silhouettes at the end of the article resemble those two: bullete could be the last one in the first row, and illithid might be the second one in the last (fifth) row. And they have the same double letters (ll). :)

At this moment, I think I'd go for aclassic vanilla flavour: a Gandalfesque human wizard, probably a Servant of the Hidden Flame. Tiefling warlock is also an option (I was a huge fan of tieflings since Planescape, and I loved the warlock since I first laid my hands on Complete Arcane)...

I personally prefer the 2e MM Toni DiTerlizzi's troglodytes. They're humanoid only in the most basic sense, and their heads and faces are salamander-like. Although Sam Wood's 3(.5) MM troglodyte isn't bad either. I just don't get the buff lizard hype that seems to be present in 4e ;)
