Disney Gets In Bed With Sora

This was always the endgame and the real threat.

D&D General Wildly Diverse "Circus Troupe" Adventuring Parties

It's a human size/shape robot with a hard shell, like a Star Wars droid. All the advantages of a digital mind and mechanical combat chassis, but No Can Magic. (Unless the Yes Can Magic rule is being used; player didn't want it.) Like the musk cat, it's from Phantasy Star.

My current group is a dragonborn, a musk cat, a CAST, and three humans.

    Immersion?

Unlike a lot of other "theorycraft" gamer jargon, I don't feel like "immersion" means whatever the person saying it wants it to mean in the the context of the current argument. I feel like I understand what other people mean when they say it. I can agree or disagree with how other gamers seek...

    What's the best potato?

Mashed, with ricotta and spinach, stuffed into an otherwise innocuous-looking meatloaf. Diced, seasoned, and pan-friend with a white onion and a green apple.

    What's the best potato?

Dutch Blues. The color is  shocking when someone discovers it in the middle of their meatloaf.

    D&D 5E (2024) Preferences in a New Official 5.5e Specific Setting

No, but I sure wish there was. There's a ton of great  xianxia TV series on Netflix, so just grab one and imagine the setting's more Spelljammer or Dragonstar. Or pick up the Phantasy Star core rulebook and your favorite DM's Guild version of Dragon Fist or Tome of Battle.

    D&D 5E (2024) Preferences in a New Official 5.5e Specific Setting

My go-tos are pretty much always modern/urban xianxia and space xianxia, but D&D 2014/2024 is  really not my preferred system for modern settings. I'll admit to seeing what this dev team can do with a brand-new setting, and I'm open to just about anything as long as the new setting matches the...

What Are Your Favourite Movie Quotes?

Yeah, exactly this. The OT is full of these, the PT made them worse and invented new ones--prequels always do--but this show managed to unscrew a lot of pregnant lightbulbs. A rare example of a prequel not just being good, but making the preceding material better. I don't want to praise it too...

And then they will weep, for they will have no more envelopes left to push. Nerds destroy their own fun.

Yeah. And... like, those totally are tropes, but they're not the only tropes. They weren't even the only tropes when they were the ones Tolkien used for reasons in his work. They're not at all present in Narnia-- which would make a dooope D&D setting with the serial numbers filed off, like...

What Are Your Favourite Movie Quotes?

See and raise, @Richards: Caesar: hnnnn. NO! One of the sequels to the prequels. Doc Holliday: "I'm your huckleberry." Wanda Maximoff: "You took everything from me." Thanos: "I don't even know who you are." Wanda: "You will." Seriously, in a franchise that has all three of the good Hannibals...

edit: I'm sorry. This post was just... wow. "Not the best version of myself", indeed. I'd like to point out that I'm not being the best version of myself right now, I'm not in the habit of insulting people when I'm trying to convince them to agree with me or do them a favor. This is how I...

    D&D 3.x [3.PF] "Restricted Gestalt" Variants

Big Dumb Campaign Ideas: Whole reason I started this thread? Had a dumb idea awhile back: "No Core" D&D. Rules are "simple": 3.PF. Third-party products allowed/encouraged, as long as they're 3.X or PF1 compatible, and subject to umpire's approval. No ancestries or base classes from the PHB or...

D&D General Wildly Diverse "Circus Troupe" Adventuring Parties

I was going to fight you on this; it sounds like he's describing using the DM, the table, and the game as props in his solo exercise. But you do have a point... if that's the game everyone is playing, they're competing/collaborating in that kind of gameplay, and the other players trying to act...

    D&D 3.x [3.PF] "Restricted Gestalt" Variants

The Gestalt Characters variant rules were probably--don't @ me-- the most notorious and most long-lasting legacy of the 3.5 version of Unearthed Arcana. An admittedly and unabashedly high-power variant, they allowed players to combine two (or more, in some variant-variants) character classes at...

D&D General Wildly Diverse "Circus Troupe" Adventuring Parties

The process doesn't normally involve that much conflict. The name-calling comes into play when I talk about it on platforms like this one, or when someone is telling me why they have declined to apply to my game. I should probably note that this doesn't hurt my feelings; people being jerks about...

    Do you observe Thanksgiving?

Yeah. I'm American, most of my family and in-laws are either American or Americanized immigrants... and a harvest feast dedicated to showing gratitude for the blessings of the land and the blessings of the community is very on-brand for our religion's ethos. The timing coincides with when we...
