Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

I think I just get easily overwhelmed looking for a battle map that fits what I see in my mind (or even gets close) - it really puts me off on using a VTT. I have no problem with Dungeons because I just use Dungeon Scrawl to create the version I want and sometimes I throw a Dyson Logos map into...

Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

This may be a weird thread to ask in, but the search function is letting me down with too many irrelevant hits, but does anyone know of a thread on here where people share battle maps for VTT use (like Owlbear Rodeo) or links to free ones?

D&D General Favourite adventures from Dungeon Magazine

If we are including those, then I'd include "The Sword of Justice" from Dragon #92.

D&D General Favourite adventures from Dungeon Magazine

Ha! I offered this one to two different groups (in-game) in 5E games and neither took the bait! I find his criticism too harsh and based on a framework of "can you run it as published?" Since I don't think that of even the best "official" modules, it is not useful criticism for me (even though...

Yeah. that would irk me to no end. (y)

    D&D General Rules that weren't...

I get it. But sometimes players aren't sure what to do, or want to see what someone else does first, and doing that is a risk for a potential reward, and that is the kind of thing I like. Trust me, if it turned out to be a pain in the tuchus, been exploited, or slowed the game down, I would have...

D&D General Does anyone else title their D&D sessions?

I had been considering updating this thread, so thanks to @Richards for the reminder! In my Primordial Evil Campaign, we have had 8 full sessions, and one solo session (#28B) when a PC was separated from the rest of the party for a long time (the player ran a replacement character during that...

    D&D General Rules that weren't...

While, as i said, this has (perhaps miraculously) not come up in 6 years, we have an understanding that if you have a standing effect/condition of that sort, it may still happen on the original initiative - DM's call.

    D&D General Rules that weren't...

The very first house rule I made to 5e was grandfathering delayed and readied actions from 3e because I find it makes combat more dynamic to potentially change your place in the order. And it keeps your reaction free for other stuff. We’ve been playing 5e for nearly 6 years and it has not once...

That and playing 3e for 16 years were probably the culprits in my initial confusion.

You can’t take a reaction before the first time you act in the first round of combat and attacks against a surprised opponent are made with Advantage. I kept both even after discovering I was wrong.

D&D General Favourite adventures from Dungeon Magazine

"Roarwater Caves" (Dungeon #15) - I ran this back in 2E days and more recently early on in a 5E campaign. "Tallow's Deep" (Dungeon #18) - Classic, that we still talk about and I hope to run again soon. "The School of Nekros" (Dungeon #27) - I renamed this one "River of the Dead" "Through the...

D&D General Favourite adventures from Dungeon Magazine

I ran through this one as a player, but I think the DM heavily altered it. I do remember that while the party defeated the titular dragon, my dwarven fighter/thief, Dwur was killed in the process.

Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

I equally dislike when people use their head canon/homebrew to argue for a rule they think everyone should accept or for the primacy of their playstyle as when people dismiss any head canon/homebrew ideas for a rule because the book does not explicitly state it.

Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

This proves so popular that it is not surprising that the. . . government has been trying to get rid of the law for years. Still works! 😂

OZGate - or what they don't want you to know

I remember thinking that a "good" conspiracy theory that I had never heard any profess was nuclear bomb truthers. Basically, the idea that since none have been dropped in our life time and only 2 were ever (purportedly) dropped for their actual use, that they don't actually exist and the idea of...

D&D General 10 Things that Happened in a Recent D&D Session

10 more things, this time from this past Friday's sessions (#37) of our "Primordial Evil" campaign 1. The party risked a short rest in the dungeon and succeeded. 2. They battled giant rats and a large rat swarm that had grown especially aggressive after eating some of the dead bugbears and...

D&D General Favourite adventures from Dungeon Magazine

When I get a chance I will look through my Dungeon Adventures spreadsheet, but for now let me second these that others have mentioned: Literally adapted and am running this in my current in-person 5e game. I played through this in 2E days and enjoyed it. I ran this in 2E days and hope to run...
