Yet another "How old are you?" thread

Me too! In a recent D&D History book (I forget which, I've read a bunch) it was said that Gary drove the manuscript to the printers on the day I was born!

What I Like About Nimble 2e (So Far) — A Partial Review

BTW @Zaukrie - Thanks for helping me out earlier. I think that you've reassured me that it was probably a combination of good luck rolls on the players part and perhaps too easy on the encounter building (the Adventure was designed for beginners, so it was probably made to be won easily). I do...

What I Like About Nimble 2e (So Far) — A Partial Review

You can't use different colors and have it work, because if you're rolling with Advantage or Disadvantage, then your Primary could be the one that is dropped out, and then... which one is your next primary? You'd have to create an established order. (I mean, yeah, it works when there's only two...

    D&D 5E (2024) 2024 Kensai?

Kensai is basically "Sword Wife". Which I suppose doesn't totally not work, but not in the way Sword "Saint" does.

D&D General 'War Wizard' Is A New Dragonlance Novel From Weis & Hickman

@Parmandur So, this is what Margaret meant by "You will hear about it in August" (or whatever the correct quote is). Of course, it doesn't mean that we won't have DL coming for Season of Champions, but it could still be Dark Sun. It's probably one or the other, at least!

What I Like About Nimble 2e (So Far) — A Partial Review

Which makes me think of a question: With "Zap" (2d8, the mage hits themself on a miss). I assume that it's correct that the Mage takes the 1 from the primary die (that caused the miss) plus whatever is rolled on the 2nd d8 - so for the most part, the mage won't hurt themselves TOO badly, unless...

D&D General What the Melf's Guide to Greyhawk Cover Might Look Like

Yeah, okay... I didn't put the "Melf's Guide To" part in... I didn't want to spend too much time on it. You get the picture, I'm sure.

D&D General What the Melf's Guide to Greyhawk Cover Might Look Like

Yeah, give the guy an embossment treatment (just Melf) and do an old school logo and trade dress. I think some folks would dig that.

What I Like About Nimble 2e (So Far) — A Partial Review

I think only the Mage with Zap, but it's the general terminology all the same.

What I Like About Nimble 2e (So Far) — A Partial Review

It was our only night so far, and they were level 1 pregens that I ran through the first adventure from the GMG. Just goblins. Mostly minions. A few flunkies. A ratrider in the 2nd encounter.

    D&D 5E (2024) 2024 Kensai?

Wait... it was spelled wrong in OA? I don't remember that. Though it doesn't surprise me.

What I Like About Nimble 2e (So Far) — A Partial Review

Yeah, we got that. It only happened once that anyone rolled a 1 on their primary die (happened three times in a row for my monsters, though!) I understand that they rolled well, but it was part of the issue that the Attack Action is just still so attractive an option: You just might hit, no...

What I Like About Nimble 2e (So Far) — A Partial Review

Am I doing this right? I ran my first Nimble game last night, and my son quickly mathed out that it was more effective for everyone to basically minimize everything else that they would otherwise do, and simply Attack as often as possible. Even with disadvantage, or disadvantage 2, they still...

D&D General Melf's Guide to Greyhawk Coming From Luke Gygax & WotC

Vince Vaughn got the original painting for only $5k? Seems kind of low to me (and easily afforded by an actor, even one as relatively humble as Vaughn).

Melf's Guide to Greyhawk Cover by Jeff Easley Revealed at Gary Con

Nah, he's just very very Elric-inspired.

Dungeons & Dragons Will Announce New Products at Gen Con, Modules Returning to Game

Seems high to me. You can still get a comic book for $4-$5 at 20 pages, 40+ pages magazine-sized for $8-$10. But I would be surprised if WotC would price one under $15 retail. We shouldn't be paying shipping on them individually, after all. That would be nice! Seems unlikely to me, though. I...

It would also explain why they want to put a big push on the FLGS as well - to put out more and more DDB exclusives would make us FLGSes angry, but not if we're being given other helpful concessions. And they could collect them into print anthologies later (even, possibly, only collecting the...

Dungeons & Dragons Will Announce New Products at Gen Con, Modules Returning to Game

Ultimately, most of these things are all about the execution. Dial H for Hero could have been Ben 10, if DC Comics had ever had the vision and the execution.
