D&D 5E (2024) Multi-Cantrip Build: 3 / round with BS Extra Attack, EK War Magic and Haste? (5 with Action Surge?)

Yep. Thief 3 seems very strong, though of course it depends on what kind of magic items you can get your hands on. But assuming you have a few good wands handy, those BAs can really go a long way. Or else, just craft scrolls and do like Colby’s Doom Scroller build.

D&D 5E (2024) Multi-Cantrip Build: 3 / round with BS Extra Attack, EK War Magic and Haste? (5 with Action Surge?)

Well, you can't stack it as much as the other build, but you could still do quite a few more than 1? Let's say you have a Valor Bard 6, Fighter 2, Sorc 5 (or more...), Warlock X Then in your opening round, you can do something along the lines: Quickened Haste with your Bonus Action, Haste...

D&D 5E (2024) Move over Owl and Bat, the best 2024 familiar is a Deer!

Mongols drained a bit of blood from their horses, without killing them, for their sustenance. They also produced some kind of ale from the blood too, if I recall correctly. You could also milk them, under the right circumstances... Plenty of ways to feed off of large animals without killing nor...

D&D 5E (2024) Multi-Cantrip Build: 3 / round with BS Extra Attack, EK War Magic and Haste? (5 with Action Surge?)

So... I was thinking about this again, and was wondering: did they really fix it? The Bladesinger and the EK both mention that their ability only works with Wizard cantrips. The Valor Bard, however, says: So it seems to work with any cantrip, including Eldrith Blast. That's only once per...

    D&D 3.x [3.PF] "Restricted Gestalt" Variants

IDK d20 Modern very well. I think I only flipped through it once. But in any case, regarding gestalt, there was a built-in incentive to choose two classes that are complementary, since you did not add up the characteristics, but rather took the strongest one of each. So if you built a...

D&D General So… psionic powers are no longer purely mental?

I think one potential path would be to look at it from the other perspective… I mentioned, earlier in the thread, that rather than stipulating that psionic spellcasting requires no material components except when the material component has a cost, they could instead make the Psion spell list...

D&D General So… psionic powers are no longer purely mental?

It could be… There are plenty of options most tables don’t use. And there could be even more such options. Most tables don’t have an Artificer or other Eberron thingies. Most tables don’t have firearms. Most tables don’t even get to the level where the loot might contain a legendary item. And...

D&D General So… psionic powers are no longer purely mental?

All of that makes sense to me. The ones who get their powers from a third party sentience (gods or patrons) have some restrictions in terms of how they can act, based on the tenets of their faith, morality, and/or the agendas of the gods/patrons they worship or pact with. This is a "moral...

D&D General So… psionic powers are no longer purely mental?

Upon further thinking, these should probably be swapped. Mortal patrons are the worst dependency to have… if they are killed, then you lose your powers. Gods can also be killed, but that’s much less likely… I like the idea of thought and emotion components! Although I would think all or most...

D&D General So… psionic powers are no longer purely mental?

I view it much the same way, but I still break down that 3rd item into two: sorcery, then psionics. And possibly the first item is also broken down: getting your powers from a deity vs from a (comparatively weaker) patron. It’s all a sliding scale of dependency: You depend on a god, plus...

D&D General So… psionic powers are no longer purely mental?

🤣 That is fine fluff but would not technically count as a somatic component by the RAW. Unless somehow you can’t make your eyes glow if you’re tied up with a rope, which would otherwise prevent somatic component spells. Obviously, whatever your DM agrees to is the law of the land and I’m glad...

D&D General So… psionic powers are no longer purely mental?

Yeah, if we look at scifi, the components are there… in Star Wars, the Force also has some components. Their mage hand usually requires waving or gesturing at things. And their Jedi Mind Trick has a distinct gesture, on top of the verbal command also, obviously. The lightning attack from Sith...

    D&D 5E (2024) D&D Classes without Subclasses?

I haven’t decided yet if I care about the spoilers, but I would probably be the one DMing if we tried it out, and I am wary of being out of my depth in a lore-rich setting. Unless I just take the rules and move it to one of our other settings, which might be fine too… 🤷‍♂️🤔

D&D General So… psionic powers are no longer purely mental?

Thanks for going through that. It’s not a ton, but not bad either. And most of these spells do have a "psionic vibe" so hopefully players who care about the lore would pick them up. Yep, and I was gonna say what @Maxperson said a little after: To me the way the 3.5 XPH did it with these side...

    D&D 5E (2024) D&D Classes without Subclasses?

Thanks for the extra details! I did wonder how much this could be enjoyed without having read Sanderson (as you guessed). I have the temptation to read it anyhow, because of the good stuff I heard about it. Though if I front load reading the novels I’ll probably never get to the TTRPG 😅 … so...

    D&D 5E (2024) D&D Classes without Subclasses?

Nice, I’m intrigued. Hadn’t heard of it yet though I heard very good things about Sanderson’s fiction. Have you tried the Stormlight Starter Set, and would you recommend it? Or you went straight to the "real books"?

D&D General So… psionic powers are no longer purely mental?

Ah! Thanks! I skimmed most of the doc but missed that 🤦 Well, at least they get Silent and Eschew Materials Metamagics for free. Not sure why they need to also make a salute in order to think harder, but hey, we’ll take it I guess? As for spells with costly components… they could have simply...
