That is vey true....BRP had Astounding Adventures, which I quite liked, and Pulp Cthulhu is essentially its successor, with the added effect of mythos plus higher profile (AA unfortunately didn't get a lot of attention).

Just like in original Ravenloft. --Though, I seem to recall in original Ravenloft it was possible sometimes with the right circumstances to take out a domain lord for a long time, or even permanently. There was a six part series of modules that led to major changes for this reason iirc.

I am a long time fan of Ravenloft, but back in the 2E days I actually used the domains as actual realms in my home campaign to fill out unexplored zones that I didn't prep for otherwise. I could see this working...

It is a fair argument that if the orcs are portrayed as having a society, culture, children, etc. then at minimum the game ought to include some clarity on just why they are predominantly evil....I sometimes think certain cultures are "CE or LE" mostly because they by definition cannot get along...

D&D 3.5 back in the day had particularly clear (and over abundant) rules for dungeon delving. Pathfinder 2E has a really good section on this as well. That said, I actually think D&D 5E also handles it just fine, too, but maybe just a tad more loosely than its predecessors and competitors.

This here. I think maybe some groups (such as the OP) may have moved away from it, but I actually have found myself leaning hard into dungeon type environments for the last year+ as they are easier to run on Roll20.

That is true, but what I meant was that the availability of options to play these games in VTT environments would drive physical book sales. My group, as an example purchased a lot of Alien books as a result of Roll20 offering support. I admit, I could be wrong, as for all I know VTT gamers...
