    Help! I suck at descriptions!

Wow! I certainly wasn't expecting this much of a response. Thank you so much for all the great advice, and the leads on other things to investigate. I'm going away on vacation tomorrow morning (or holiday for those of you on the other side of the pond), so I'll be sure to think about...

Using sound effects at the table?

I saw that too, but had reservations ordering from a business that has not been verified at Paypal (see this thread here). I was going to wait until someone else buys from them first. :D

    Help! I suck at descriptions!

Confessions of a lame DM Greetings and Well Met, fellow dice-chuckers! I originally posted this message over on the WotC boards, in the forum titled "What's a DM to do?", but I thought I should run it by the amazing brain trust here at ENWorld also. I'll admit (and it's been confirmed through...

    ENWorld Radio? Bring it on...

This is something that I was considering several months ago, but then I woke up and said, "Huh? You don't know the first thing about running a live broadcast, let alone creating a podcast!". Besides, I don't think I would have a very good radio voice. I would love to help, however, with the idea...

    Question about background music

http://www.palefacesound.com/store/environ.html I'll probably pick it up myself before our next session. Cheers, ct

Tryin' out the new stat block

Used it last week, and love it. I always found myself either underlining, or writing in the right-hand margin, the AC, hitpoints, initative bonus, attack bonuses and damage, and special attacks needed to smoothly run the encounter. Now they're easy to find!

    My recent loot

<Colonel Thread quickly waves to his Librarian neighbor to the west> I have no idea how signatures affect the value of role playing books. I guess it all depends on what the buyer thinks. Let me know if you do ask next time. Cheers, ct

    My recent loot

Well done! :D About the only decent thing my FLGS had last time was an original B2 Keep on the Borderlands for 5 bucks. I *almost* bought it, but after flipping through it I failed to recall what it is that makes me have such fond memories of this module. I guess my tastes have changed over the...

    DMG II -- In my hands . . .

Do you really need to spend $30 on a book to tell you that?

    My Modular Dungeon (Hirst Arts)

Wow! Those are simply beautiful! How do you find using these during play? I'm considering adding something like this, or even just 2D tiles, to my game but I'm afraid it will slow things down. It just seems quicker to me to be able to draw it on the battlemat.

    D20 Future

Yes, a well written review indeed! You expertly pointed out both the good and bad, letting the reader come to their own conclusion. I'm thinking of doing some sort of sci-fi once our current D&D 3.5 campaign ends (which is only two sessions old, but hey I like to plan way ahead) and was...

    PCGen: module datasets?

I can see the point of buying some of the supplement datasets for PCGen, which would give you new PrCs, skills, feat, spells, magic items, monsters.. and so on. But what's the point of a module dataset, such as The Sunless Citadel? Does it simply give you access to any new monsters or items...

    Computer at the game table?

Very nice, I will have to play around with this a bit more. I like how it produced variations in a group of orc's AC and HP by using different armor and stats (and weapons, too). My monster groups are always so boring, "Up ahead you spot a gang of six goblins all wearing tattered leather armor...

    Buying from Paleface Sound?

Sorry for the bump, but I'm really hoping to catch somone that has done business with Paleface before. I *want* this CD, but I don't want to throw away 18 bucks if I can avoid it.

    DMG II -- In my hands . . .

Oh :\ I must have missed that chapter. I'll have to give it a look when I get home tonight. Thanks!

    DMG II -- In my hands . . .

In particular, I'm looking for something to help me with describing NPCs and locations to my players, such as tables or lists of quirks, traits, and facial/clothing descriptions for NPCs and names and descriptions for shops, taverns, dungeon rooms and hallways, cavern tunnels, forests, etc. I...

What are you going to buy next?

I've just started GMing a new D&D campaign, so I've got a few things to pick up in support of that: 3.5e Dungeon Master's Guide 3.5e Monster Manual then, maybe: Monsters of Faerun Magic of Faerun DMG II Books of Challenges Monster Manual II Monster Manual III oh, and probably a subscription...

    Buying from Paleface Sound?

I know as a "buyer", I had to verify my Paypal account by entering a credit card number, then entering a code which appeared in the transaction on my statement. This was just to verify I am in fact a real person with a valid credit card. I don't know what a "seller" has to go through to be...

Using sound effects at the table?

I've had good luck using a portable CD "boom box" style player (made by Sony, but that doesn'tt matter) that has a remote control and the ability to repeat a single track endlessly, until I've select the next track to be played. I simply keep a cheat sheet in my notebook that tells me which...
