More info about this OSRIC thing?

If I recall correctly, TSR sued over Mythus but settled out of court. TSR bought Mythus for a hefty amount of money - much more than the cost of developing a game system.

    Back to the future

Congrats! You might find these fan-made consolidations handy; I know I have: Bruce Mohler's Consolidated D&D Trav's Consolidated D&D Both are efforts to compile the rules from the little booklets into one coherent and cohesive document. Mohler sticks pretty much to the first four booklets, and...

    "It's a joke name, sir."

Heh, a guy in my gaming group (who knows nothing about NASCAR) accidentally bumped into Dick Trickle in a bar in Florida, made Dick spill his drink. My buddy apologized got Dick another drink and introduces himself. Dick told him his name and my friend, who was a bit buzzed, started laughing...

Kickin' it old school -- are you game?

Yes, I run a 1e campaign from time to time. My group is all veteran grognards, and even those who like 3.x have fun when we play Ye Olde Edition. Regards, GBBH

    Things you would gladly buy...

I'm serious. Publish it and I will buy it. You know it would rock for the highway chase rules alone!

    Most useless book ever?

Most useless 3.x book I own is Psionics. Never used once. Bought the Epic Level book, returned it to Border's next day for a refund. They asked me why I wanted to return it, told them it was crap. They cheerfully refunded my money. Most useless 2e book I own is Complete Priest's Handbook. Never...

    F.a.t.a.l.

F.A.T.A.L. smells like a big inside joke, a send-up, a lampoon, a straight-faced parody. I suspect this because of the bald-faced brazenness of the ugly bits, and the plethora of huge, unusable tables. I think the author is having a big fat laugh at the RPG community's expense. IMO, if an...

    3.5 Missing Link

Wow. I got here before Diaglo. ;) P'raps you miss the simplicity and charm of the Classics, my friend? A session of your favorite out-of-print D&D might cure what ails you. I also highly recommend C&C. Great fun. Regards, GBBH

    What do you usually play?

Hmmm... poll is missing the out-of-print editions. No worries, mate. Currently: C&C AD&D (1e) d20 Modern BASH Fantasy Real Soon Now: Savage Worlds Regards, GBBH

So in '06 you'll be buying...

Nada from WizBro, barring unforeseen re-alignment of the Cosmic Axis. YMMV, of course! ;)

The Golden Age of D&D and its Art...

Erol Otus is a God. That is all.

Just to clear the air, 4th edtion has been out for a few years now.

I've always suspected that the use of parody was a subterfuge to get some kind of AD&D back into print. Regards, GBBH

long long post about my system of choice problem...

From your stated preferences, it seems you don't mind rules-heavy systems as long as they don't break when you chuck out the bits you don't like. But, you also say you like Original D&D for it's Rules-Lightness. So - if tinkerable rules-heavy is the goal, I don't have any ideas, since you're...

Have you become disillusioned with 3rd edition?

Not disillusioned per se with 3.x, just came to understand in 2001 that it's not my cup o' tea. I'll play it with friends and have a good time, but I DM 1st ed. and C&C. The poll questions assume that no one is playing the out-of-print editions, unless hybridizing with 3.x.

Diaglo: What's so great about OD&D?

Never saw these guys in the three little books: They could blow up your gaming room real good. ;)

Diaglo: What's so great about OD&D?

Diaglo - Just popping in like Leslie Nielsen in Airplane, to say: "Good luck. We're all counting on you." ;D

    TSR Q&A with Gary Gygax

Hail, Good Colonel: My question is about the provenance of IOUN stones. As far as I've seen, the earliest appearance of IOUN stones in Mr. Vance's work is in Rhialto the Marvellous, which bears a copyright date of 1984 - and IOUN stones predate this in D&D. Did IOUN stones start in D&D and were...
